Options at right-back

We won’t really know how Bradders or Frim fit until they play with a RW who will track back and support them. Anyone we play there gets isolated and doubled on the regular. Neither are optimised for this as they are v attacking in nature, but it’s a unique situation compared to most full backs

So we're not going to know how our right backs work for 2 years?

No thanks.

Szob starts there every week.

It's moot to talk about Salah tracking back or being dropped because he won't and never will. Last year was great, but it also has given license to Salah to go "nah I'm good mate" to any potential changes.

There’s a 3rd option here 🤔

I wouldn't entertain Frimpong at RB. Bradley is decent but not top class. Szobo is the best RB at the club, which is a worry really.

I am a Bradders fan, so not impartial here, but given his still recent return from injury I think he just needs to be played now. That amazing spell he had when Trent was out was in part due to having a run of games which he hasn't had since. I think we just need to pick a RB and stick with him for a while.

I just don't think Szobo is any sort of an answer. Hes also been one of the best players at CM and we lose something when he's not there, especially with Wirtz not cutting it. Slot needs to improve Bradley and Frimpong into delivering what he needs. It's one for the training ground.
The problem is a really basic one though, we've bought two physically inferior full backs who are attack minded, when we already have deficiencies defensively because we lack true protection in midfield. We have Salah and Wirtz who are small and relatively light weight, all this when you consider that teams like Newcastle targetted our height vulnerability last season. The lack of physicality and steel through the side is alarming. Ekitike goes someway to help give us a spine, but around the spine of the team we're littered with weak technicians who just aren't that competive when up against athletic sides. I can't stand Joelinton, but if we had a player with half his presence it would help. This is like watching Evans' sides at the minute, talented, but frail and gutless.

It doesn’t help Slot seems to alternate between 3 RBs either so they never get to settle. Think he should give Frimpong a chance to own that position and play Szbo higher up for now. Bradley doesn’t seem to have the consistency or all around game despite looking great for a you tube tackle highlights reels when fit. He has age on his side though.

I’ve said it a good few times since the start of the season, but if you play Szobo on the right of the front three (Grav / Macca / Wirtz in midfield) then our right side will be infinitely better balanced in attack and defence whoever starts at right back….

I don't really understand the reasoning behind Frimpong, Kerkez I get because he has time to be molded into what Slot wants him to be, he can be industrious, he just needs to adapt from playing in a different system. Frimpong played a different system too but he's so physically slight and will always be a target for the gaps he leaves and for his lack of height at setpieces, and the lack of protection from Salah. The only way it makes sense is if he will actually step in for Salah on occasion, but as already covered, that's not going to happen any time soon.

Salah shouldn't be anywhere near that game tomorrow, neither should Konate.
