Other forum meltdown thread 2025/26

They're slowly realising what a number of us have been observing for 2+ years. Arteta started really ramping up his 'dark arts' to win what look like innocuous FKs wide & far from the box. He would then be fully focused on making chances happen from these - either directly or in any melee.

He takes flair players and is reducing them to winning set pieces whilst Gabriel goes up to try and score a header. He then moved into corners and long throws - then added in more bullshit routines and dark arts with GKs.

This is somewhat effective - but its literally the blueprint for anti football, and his team has lost its instinct for free flowing football.

I have nothing against scoring from set pieces - we did brilliantly at one point scoring tons from corners. But it has to be one tool in the kitbag.

Yesterday the only reason Merino was selected is that he is a set piece threat, and scored against us last season. What Arsenal would have benefitted from in the first half would have been an Eze or a Nwaneri in the middle running at us when we were at times lost at sea.

The game last year sealed it for me. They were absolutely dominant and giving us huge issues. Then they decided to sit back from the start of the next half allowing us to just play our way into the game. He's just too conservative.

Imagine relying and riding on luck as much as these lot do. What a reprehensible way to keep winning

Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable. Every ****ing game they do this

No words. Really speechless

That bald c*nt has done some almighty deal with the devil. Cue the praise from the media

Honestly never seen a team as lucky as this Liverpool side. Opposition having absolute brain dead moments constantly to give them last minute goals

Luckiest club in the history of the game. Every week.

The worst 12 point haul this division has ever seen. Criminal they have skanked 4 wins. Mental stuff.

Imo he can still just not give the pen Some things are bigger than the "rules." Truth, justice. That sort of thing.

Your weekly reminder that this is a reality show managed by the PGMOL

88th minute, drawing at home to Bournemouth who look just as likely to get the winner as them...a defender decides it is a good idea to head the ball into the danger area for the Chiesa to volley home.

10th minute into injury time against Newcastle with 10 men who decide inexplicably to go for a winner and send everyone upfield only to be suckered.

5th minute of injury time and Burnley are almost there to get a precious point....until one of their players decides to be stupid.

We are only 4 games in! (The other game was against us when a once in a blue moon wonder free kick just goes in to get them 3 points). You just have to laugh at this. ****ing bastards lol.

We have the best squad - they have the best refs. When they can't win late on soften the opposition up with a red card and if that doesn't work it's time for a pen. Corrupsoe.

Blue Fume

I’m going to keep banging my drum on this issue, I’ve been saying it for years … penalties for handball are fucking stupid. It leads to more totally unjustified highway robbery goals than any other law.

The penalty is so disproportionate to the crime it’s actually absurd.
The funny thing is I’m not sure we would have been given that penalty whereas I knew the ref would instantly give them it.
It’s not luck or surprising, they get a decision every week. Should be used to it now.
Need to check Hanibals bank account see if any deposit from a misery side bank !!!
Lol what do you expect from these 6 fingered twats, they did the same thing against the rags to concede a late penalty.
I can`t put into words how much I hate these cunts

That's a sackable offence... useless cnt
Im sure that wouldn't have happened if the linesman handed the throw in to the right team in the last run of play
unbelievable...such lucky tossers
12 pts and been absolutely wank in all 4 games
That lad is on the take has to be

Braindead twat
Unfortunately it’s quite apparent and it’s not usually soft penalties (which occasionally they get help with) it’s more the fact that if there’s a nailed on penalty (like today tbf) them and Utd will ALWAYS get it. Like always, even without review. We on the other hand probably get 50% of those (even after review) making it much harder for us and throws they make their own luck an unfair notion.

I actually think this is a fair point. The Burnley lad was unlucky, not trying to get an advantage. It is really not possible to jump and turn like he did without leaving a dangling elbow. Although, if he had not turned his back, his elbow would have stayed in.

Anyway, I think penalties for that offense are a little harsh, but the rules are very clear. And, I don’t think there is a solution, because it also blocked a promising cross.

This. Plus of course if the penalty for handball rule was rescinded then we'd have a plethora of them.

It's not that penalties for handball are harsh, it's that lots of penalties for any offence are harsh just because they result from situations that aren't very dangerous at all. But what's the alternative? Letting refs just decide for themselves which situations warrant penalties or not? Can you imagine the carnage? Defenders just need to not commit offences when there isn't much danger.

Right. Referees can’t decide. It is just that some are soft, but that one was just plain unlucky for Burnley. No solution though.

This an interesting post on there re. Burnley : Before anyone says it's big versus small team, they played the same tactics against Sunderland too.

Anyone see that game? Is this now standard fair for Burnley - I know they had the best defensive record in the Championship last season.

Well, it's what got them up, and a tight defence will be at even more of a premium for them now. If it ain't broke, don't "fix" it.

Yes, I go to the pub with Leeds and Sheff Wed fans (not as bad as it sounds) and they were saying it last year. Some examples i can remember...

"Imagine waking up on a Saturday morning and being excited to go and watch that"

"They should advertise the samaritans around the ground"

The complete lack of self-awareness for those despicable, cheating cunts to have the audacity to genuinely believe that the league is against them, and somehow in bed with us, is simply mind-blowing... There are thick cunts, and then there are these insufferable mouth-breathers.

It's not too harsh.. I mean you don't get a card for it, which acknowledges the lack of fault.

You wouldn't think it harsh if it happened in the very first minute (unless you were in a CL Final)

It just feels harsh in the 91st minute after you've spent all game valiantly ( and successfully) parking the bus

Some players have made an extra effort to keep their arms close to their body; Ibou for one seems to have started doing it and that should be applauded.

Whereas those who are still flinging their arms about without a care, they will be punished if the ball hits their arms/hands which are in an unnatural position.

Play within the rules. Simple.

I disagree. The defender in a situation like that one is trying to stop an attack by throwing their body in the way - how is that not trying to get an advantage? If they don't want to get an advantage, they should stand still and let the cross go in.

It wasn't just the best defensive record
It was the best defensive record in Championship of all time. 16 goals conceded the entire season.

In contrast, West Ham have already conceded 11 after 4 games

some beauty from manchester derby in redcafe

All eggs in the UAE Warm Weather Friendlies Cup.
Battered. 8 wins from 31 games. Looking forward to hearing how our underlying stats show improvement though.
same old story. We exist for the amusement of others.

We’re the team you want to play.

City get their season back on track, Foden goal, Haaland brace and a comfy Donnarumma debut.
Another hard earned 0 points.
Winning football matches is for hipsters. I’d rather drown in existential angst and feel pure.

Only joking… I’m dead inside.
I miss the international break.
3 - 0, but you can see the improvements. We've gone from absolutely woeful to really poor.

for more. just visit redcafe on derby
