Our Harv.

Emery is getting the Madrid job so the new Billa boss may want Elliott.

I'd surprised if Real goes that route again. Emery has finished top 2 twice in his career. Both times for PSG. Its one of the reasons I cant understand why people think he's good enough to manage us.

Which side has he been in charge of that could expect to win the title?
He doesn't seem the sort to tolerate the behaviour of the divas in Madrid, like Alonso. Can't see it working out well for him either, unless the big cheeses there are putting their footdown.

It's a poisoned chalice, particularly for slightly lower profile managers like Emery. They pick them because they are easy fodder, until someone they really want becomes available.

Yeah, I'm guessing Monchi had another vision for that signing than Emery. Shame for Harv. Read from a Villa journo that Harvey is exemplary in his behavior. Training hard, polite, great pro and always at the home games even if he isnt in the squad.
People like him deserve much better.

When Harvey was loaned, Monchi had a deal lined up to send Buendia to Leverkusen (I think). But when that fell through, Buendia returned to Villa and had a good start to the year. Writing was on the wall after that.

We saw this movie play out before when Rafa went to Madrid. Tactically brilliant, emotionally a bit cold, struggles to manage egos, out in a flash. And Rafa came from Madrid and knew what he was in for and still didn't last a full season. Knives would be out very quickly.

Emery won't be able to handle Real. He needs to be in complete control and not head coach, it won't be like Seville gig at Real. He failed at PSG and don't see it at Real.

He’s not played so is bound to be rusty, but he came on against a knackered 10 man Brentford yesterday and looked completely ineffective.

I just don’t think he’s top class and would have been better going to a lesser side or Italy etc.

Imagine Harvey is the one scoring the goal to drop us into 6th in the final game of the season and we still have to take him back next season.

We are already in Feb anyway.

Fuck Villa.

This is Unai, in desperation mode. He knows he is going to need Harvey as an option for more than the total 10 games this season but obviously doesn’t want him long term despite Villa signing off on the player this summer to those terms,

Call their bluff, let them find the solution to a problem they’ve created. As highlighted above why we would help a CL rival is bonkers. Sadly for Harvey he will be caught in the crossfire, but only one of Villlas own making.

If we fail this season it will all be Liverpool's fault for agreeing to a structure we forced them into because we are financially incontinent.
Get to fuck.
Not just Emery, the admin side too.
It's outrageous the way they've fucked over Harvey, who is totally blameless here. A good pro who just expected them to do right by him.

Are you expecting Villa to buy Harvey for £35 mill to not hurt his feelings?

We would have done the same thing.
We didn't buy Kabak when he joined on loan.
And didn't we bench Nunez at the end of last season because there was an appearance clause in his contract?

Also Harvey isn't blameless. We would have been paid in full if he joined Leipzig. They had Xavi Simons money to spend.

Not buying a player at the end of a loan is very different to deliberately not playing him so as to avoid triggering a purchase.

Why Emery is getting so vocal is beyond me. He should be more 'statesman' and deflect questions to the DoF (who never appear in press conferences!)

No, I'm expecting them to honour the terms of the deal they struck (and most likely they drove the structure so they could delay triggering it until January when they'd be in less dire straits for UEFA FFP) and I expect them to not fuck the player over.
We didn't buy Kabak when he came on loan because we thought at the outset that we wouldn't do so and we structured the deal so we wouldn't have to (option to buy, not obligation). He got himself in the shop window and got a move to Norwich (where he also didn't tear it up_, we got a squaddie to make up the numbers, and what happened was a realistic outcome. The upside for the player is if he did great then he might get a permanent move. That's open and honest and I doubt we yanked his chain and made him think he was going to sign for us permanently.
It's right about Nunez's appearances but he was also shit and got 3 years to do his thing. He didn't do it. We didn't ask Benfica to change the deal so we could play him. And we probably knew by then that we were going to sell him so why trigger the extra payment? It's not like we keep him out of the match day squad, he just didn't start and didn't deserve to.
If the worst that you can levy at Harvey is that he chose to stay in the PL, most likely because he thought he'd have a better chance of playing for England, then fuck that guy! What a ridiculous thing for him to do. He deserves all he gets. That's bullshit Modo.
This is all on Villa.

I don't see a villain in this. It's business imo.
Regarding Harvey, let's be realistic.
With Foden, Palmer, Bellingham, Eze and Morgan Rogers ahead of him, his chances of making the England squad was between slim and none.

It's business with a human being in the centre, and a decent one by all accounts. It's the thing I hate most about football, how it gets forgotten by clubs and fans that players are human beings. Lots of money involved, some massive egos, sure, but this is a kid that was chasing his dream, the same dream as most of us on here - playing and winning trophies for the club he's supported his entire life.
Then he has to leave to further his career as his new manager doesn't rate him, he goes somewhere else ready to commit himself, behaves professionally throughout, they fuck him over and he still doesn't kick off. He absolutely deserves better.
If you're not seeing a villain then you're ignoring the Villains.
This is 90% on them for being cunts, 10% on us for not seeing it could pan out this way and 0% on the player.

It's horrible, I 100% agree. Don't get me wrong, I feel sorry for Harvey, even if I don't rate the kid.
But, the only thing I see wrong in this is that Villa didn't release him. Keeping him around and not playing him when it's clear that they have no intention of buying him is just mean.

Exactly this.. if you aren't going to buy him. Release him.

Not go moaning at the press because behind the scenes its been a bit like

Change the terms? NO!
Change the terms? NO!

I don't think that was ever really an option, but it could only be done during a transfer window, so that ship has sailed.
