Florentino Perez has claimed he will do "everything possible" to lure Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, but has ruled out a move for Xabi Alonso.

Returning president Perez has already made one stunning signing with the £59million capture of Brazil international Kaka from AC Milan.

And the Santiago Bernabeu supremo is keen to revive his 'galacticos' transfer policy from his previous stint, which saw the likes of Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo and David Beckham brought in.

World Player of the Year Ronaldo has been a long-term target for the Spanish giants, although Manchester United have always vigorously resisted any advances.

But Perez does not appear deterred and he told Onda Cero and Radio Marca: "I will do everything possible to get Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid.

"Kaka is (just) the first signing.

"The only thing I have done is ensure we follow the path Santiago Bernabeu marked out for us; (signing) the best players in the world (Alfredo Di Stefano), the best in Spain (Amancio) and, with them, the best from the youth set-up (Raul)."

Perez appeared to pour cold water on reports Liverpool's Spain midfielder Alonso could be heading to the Bernabeu.

"He is a great player but he also plays in a big team and I haven't heard any news that they plan to sell him," said the Madrid president.

"It's obvious (Liverpool manager Rafa) Benitez is counting on keeping him. That's normal, he's a good player and it wouldn't be easy to replace him."

Nevertheless, it is expected to be a summer of change at Madrid with nine players seemingly on their way out of the club.

"(The squad) has 28 players. We can bring in six new and only register 25," he said.

Meh. I was hoping the silly bastard would offer us 40mill or something for him. Ah well, I guess it's good/good news then.

fcuk that.. if there was anyone in the market that could replace him yes.. i.e Barry

but otherwise no..

Great news this.. Hopefully all this Xabi nonsense can now be put to bed..

Can't see where he's ruled out signing Xabi there, the greasy tapping up cunt. He'll be on our case until Xabi himself rules it out, hence Rafa's recent statements calling his bluff.

Regardless, he doesn't leave unless it's on our term and they pay what he's worth.

Spain v Azerbajan just started, Xabi and Torres playing.

Great skill by Torres. Spain are awesome. Good game this.

what channel is it on?

I wonder if there U-Turn interest on Alonso has anything to do with them wanting to keep Rafa sweet. Usually they are ruthless, they decide they want someone bang on and on about them regardless of whether or not they are on sale.

He said last week about wanting to stay friends with people, I wonder if Rafa was one of them, and the way they seem to have backed off Alonso might be due to the warn off from Rafa and their desire to keep Rafa sweet.

According to reports from Spain, Real are going to sell 9 players and that sounds about right with article above aswell.
One of the players on their way out is rumoured to be Robben, and we're interested.

Xabi has been class in this game, I'd hate to lose him. I've got a nagging feeling he wants to leave though.

Arjen Robben's future at Real Madrid remains unresolved despite his father and agent, Hans Robben, meeting with club officials to discuss the matter.

Speculation that the winger could be sold to finance more ambitious deals this summer has been rife, but the club revealed that they haven't received any offers for the player.

The 25-year-old has struggled with injuries during his two years at the Bernabeu, but when fully fit he has shown himself to be one of the club's shining lights in what has been a season spent in rivals Barcelona's shadow.

Robben senior admits that his son wants to stay in the Spanish capital but he couldn't confirm whether the Dutch international was in the forefront of manager Manuel Pellegrini's thoughts.

"I have had a meeting with (Jorge) Valdano and (Miguel) Pardeza to speak about my son's future," he told AS.

"They have told me that they have not received any offers for Arjen.

"Arjen wants to stay and selling him would be difficult because Madrid paid 36million Euros to Chelsea for him.

"I cannot respond to that (when asked whether it had been assured if his son had a future at the club). But I can say that they said they were happy with him."

You've not been on here long enough to see them, but there are some tools on here that think Villa is over rated and him and Torres don't work well together and wouldn't for us.
You've probably met some of the local loony bin already though.

Yes please. He'd certainly add something completely different (ie. pace and trickery) to our flanks (when fit).

Negredo whom Perez was planning to offer to Liverpool as a part ex for Alonso is now going to be used as a part ex for David Villa
