Tough first 3 fixtures.. Has to be said..

Chelsea away 2nd game of the season.. ouch..

Win the Title May 1st at Old Toilet

Pretty good schedule to be honest. Tough start but the final stretch looks OK.

Ridiculous start. I guess we'll have had a slightly longer pre-season, but otherwise that's horrible.

Hopefully Chelsea will lack cohesion early in the season after a lot of transfers in and out.

Could be a blessing or a curse that.

As we normally start slowly & have to grind out results, if we had to do that against just mid table fodder it would look bad & give other sides confidence, whereas if we grind out results against those first few sides with there being a bit more quality there it will look good.

Great start, home to a promoted club and City have the weekend off so we should start the season on the front foot.

I think it’ll be important to not let them get ahead.

I always look at a few things..

1) Run in. As long we are in the mix at this point, do we an easier run in than our main rival? I'd say it was even.
2) Xmas. During the period of intense games, do we have easy fixtures with good rest in between? Yes and No. And do we have home fixtures without much travel? Not this yes. But compared to City, we have easier fixtures over this period.
3) The Start. Do we have a chance to build momentum and possibly check off some hard games when teams aren't full acclimatised to the league. I think we do.
4) Any difficult cluster of games or ones around CL times. There's possibly a difficult cluster from Feb 6th (City) to April 3rd (Arsenal). None of those teams are mugs save Fulham. Usually around the last 16 / quarter final ties.
5) When we play City - Home and Away. Last couple of years, we've played them at Anfield first. This year, it's the opposite. Vice-versa with United. We should have a chance to build a little momentum before we play them. Although the game after them both times is Leicester. Hopefully we don't carry any bookings going into that one.
6) Avoid Chelsea away in May? Check.

Actually that gives us a great chance to get to be at the head of the queue at Xmas/New Year. Obviously City away is tough but I'd rather face Chelsea away early on before they get a settled side, ditto Arsenal who'll also have a fair number of new first team players.

Even though first three games - there surely shouldn't be any team better prepared than us at the start of the season. We've no excuses whatsoever not to win those three and then it's skiing downhill until, and after, City and up until the New Year.
