I moved this out of the rumours thread because it's worth discussing rather than being lost in the tide of shit that is that thread.

Interesting that there are a number of City players there.

You do know that I was in the process of making a new thread and then remembered that you were back 😗 😎

A few nice ones there. I want Kono. I know nothing about him, but everyone else wants him, so I'ma hop on the bandwagon. I'd like Nasri. I think he's a cracking player when on form, but City have no need to sell. I'd love to get Toni Kroos too.

I think a lot of those will be signing new contracts with their clubs (top 6 names for example).

So do I. Decent City players are unlikely to force a move as they will be on the highest contract of their lives and the only way of ensuring they maintain their earnings is to leave on a bosman. I suppose City would only look to sell as it gives them some sort of control about who that players goes to.

Khedira would be nice. Haven't seen much of the others regularly enough to comment.

Konoplyanka, Lichtsteiner, Doumbia, Khedira, Marcelo stand out for me.

L'Equipe reported yesterday that Alves will move to PSG.

If they force City to move them on to save some money, isn't it a case where those players will be payed the difference in wages from City to make up for lost earnings?
Thought I read that it tends to be the case with transfers where players earn less money from their new clubs...
Maybe I'm talking bollocks.

I don't think we should sign anyone that is only expected to live for another 12 months.

I can't quite believe that after seeing that list the name I've picked out to comment on is James Milner, but whatchagonnado.

I've grown to quite appreciate him as a player over the last few years. He's not a sexy talent (or in any other way) but he's got a lot of qualities: versatile, hard working, good engine, bit of pace, good technique. Would've been great to have someone like him come in for Henderson last week.

I'm guessing he's on mad money at City so wouldn't be a viable signing, but just thought it'd be interesting to see what people think about him.

Would Chiellini be worth considering?

I say this as a genuine question, rather than a suggestion - plays either LB or CB, and used to be quite highly rated didn't he?

I have no idea if he's still any good, whether he'd leave, and if he did what sort of money we'd be talking, but obviously you're looking at quite an experienced player.

Would he be any cop, or not even worth thinking about?

Wasn't a Milner fan until he came on against us and he changed the game their way and gave Flanno a torrid time, which not many have done this season.
However Dzeko is the one that interests me, he never seems to be the most elegant of forwards but always seems to produce, if he would be willing to remain second fiddle, I would have him.
Regards

First off I rate Milner, he's a hard working versatile player with lots of experience, but from that list of players he would probably be one of my last picks.

Also, City won't sell him I believe. I think Pellegrini rates him but most importantly they need him for the home grown quota.
They've got too few English players as it is and I don't see them letting one of their better native players go.

City will however let go of players like Sinclair, Richards, Lescott, Rodwell and Barry.

Oh and they most likely will buy English this summer to replace those players.

Had similar thoughts myself. I never really saw the fuss at Villa, but he is a decent player and would work well in the midfield diamond.

I've never been a Milner fan but he'd be a great pickup for us and is perfectly suited for the side of the diamond.

I'd be going for Konoplyanka, Munain and Rakitic

Bring Borini back in and a fullback. Would prob want a fourth striker - someone with experience happy to be in squad

Richards is another City player with a year left on his contract, and we're linked to him again tonight. Fee estimated at £7m.

Could Rodgers finally make a proper player out of him? What a talent he looked when he first broke through...

For £7m Micah is certainly worth a punt. If he could stay fit and be receptive to Brendan's ways it could be a great buy.

Even when my City supporting friend used to rave about him a few years back I could never quite understand the hype.

He had pace, strength and a great leap but positionally naive (pace bailed him out a lot) and not a lot to write home about on the ball.

Great athlete but never been convinced there is a great footballer in him.

Muniain has that 'Rodgers will realise his huge potential' feel about him for me.

Konoplyanka's surely nailed on this summer and Rakitic would be a serious alternative to Lallana.

Yeh I'd sign him up. Good player, nothing world class, so maybe not on silly wages, but decent player nonetheless.

I don't watch too much La Liga, but I've never been particularly wowed by either Muniain or Rakitic. I think I'd take Lallana over both, based on the limited amount I have seen of them.

Never thought he was quite as good as the hype suggested. Good player but no Nesta / Thuram. A FM legend a few years back tho.
