Weird decision, imo. He does well for Brazil.

Has he?

Started on fire but gone without a goal in his last 6-7 games.

Goals aren't the only measure of quality, or even the main one in Bobby's case. Our team as a whole has been playing better when he's been included.

I think Brazil might go a long way in the WC, but they'd have had a better chance with a player of his intelligence pulling the strings in their attack. Without him at the centre of things they may have a job on their hands blending some of those egos into the same team.

I don't think this was really a surprise at all, he lost his place in the Brazil squad a while ago. Hes been called up for a few friendlies and sat on the bench but he didnt play a min of the world cup qualifiers. If Richarlison had not come back from injury he probably could have gone but at full strength he's not part of the squad

Bobby has already played in a World Cup, but it's unfortunate that he misses out now that they're favourites.

Had a few conversations in Russia with some Brazilians at the last world cup.

It just seems none of them rate him at all - they were all banging on about Jesus being the right choice in starting games at the WC.

Seems like they have more affinity for 'flair' type forwards, which is fair enough - but amongst all those clowns they do need a different option and thats exactly what Firmino brings.

End of the day - I couldn't care less either way, I'd rather we have more players being rested during this period & being ready to go for when the season starts back up.

Bobby's got every bit as much flair as Jesus. The problem which he and other players of similar type will face is that their kind of flair is less eye-catching than some. It's oddly reassuring to see that Brazilian fans can be as shallow and superficial in their "judgments" as anyone else.

Good point about this now becoming a useful rest period for the lad. I just hope he's not too disappointed and his form doesn't suffer for that reason instead.

Weirdly enough most Brazilian football fans are absolutely clueless. Met one a few years back who was adamant Robinho was better than Messi and Ronaldo.

Well, in a world where Lucas is comparable to Steven Gerrard, that probably makes sense.

Jules nailed it in his first post above. He complements all the showboaters, ties the attack together. Invaluable for their team.

Thing about Brasil is, they're not that great at football, they just have the population of France, Germany and the UK combined. The best 11 of France, Germany and the UK would twat Brazil any day, any year, ever.

It's Brazil's national sport. Everyone from birth plays it in the street. They're gonna have a great side with hundreds of millions of kids exclusively playing it. It's amazing England get anywhere when they're sharing all their talent around cricket and rugby and all the stupid olympic shit. China sends their kids to develop apps to destroy Western civilisation. It's not a level playing field.
