Post Match Thread - Liverpool v Manchester United - 3rd September 2012

I'd actually like to see it again. To be honest, I can't remember Johnson putting his leg in front of him, and I certainly can't remember any contact (other than Johnson putting his hand on Valencia's back). I didn't hang around for the post match analysis so maybe it showed it again from a different angle. But the replays it showed during the game, from memory, didn't show Johnson putting his leg in front of Valencia.
Good Idea Neal, while you are there have a look at the Suarez one too , and I am sure you will come back with the same opinion as me, at the very least you should say it was inconclusive in which case it wasn't either.
Just for the record I would have loved us to have got it as a pen, I will take a win against the Mancs however it comes, I really have no morales how we do it, but the point is it wasn't and despiet the slagging me and everyone else was giving Halsey the guy got most of it bang-on

regards

No, we don't get the benefit of replays here in OZ.

Of course I saw the fucking replay.

So you're fucking blind then. Clearly Suarez wins the ball and evans takes him down. OK maybe the ref doesnt see it, but it clearly should have been a penalty. So you obviously didnt see the replay

Just a minute I have had a good idea how to resolve this and I suggest you do the same Ryan, let's just get my red tinted glasses on and watch this replay over again..................................................................
Oh yes so it was

Vlad Sky clearly showed that it was a penalty. Dont know where the inconslusive thing comes from

Halsey got the two major decisions wrong. Although he doesn't have the benefit of a replay, he just see's Shelvey jumping in like a fucking madman so I can kinda see why he went for the red.

Suarez's thing wasn't a penalty. Fucking grow up people.

Buying "a striker in January" isn't really what we need tbh. The front 6 should score your goals, not one cunt. Look at Arsenal - 40 goals out of a frontman last year, and they won fuck all.

As we knew, this squad is going to start looking wafer thin now that a few injuries are kicking in.

Suarez does my fucking head in. Stop throwing yourself on the ground, stop rolling round like your hurt when you're not, and stop trying to nutmeg every single cunt everytime you get it - people have worked it out now.

Thought Kelly played well. I'm a critic of his, but he was decent today.

And RVP's penalty was hit far too hard to have been saved. "Weak hands"? Fucking wise up.

All this.

Ha.

I'd like it explained to me how Valencia's definitely wasn't a penalty, but Suarez's was - given that there was more contact on Valencia?

Jack, now you do us a favour, for the sake of the experiment , assuming you recorded it. You now take off your red-tinted glasses and watch it again in the morning in super slow mo and let us know what you saw

What I saw? No . What Sky saw. Suarez wins the ball. Evans trip him. Believe me I dont wear red tinted specs. Did you watch Gary Neville's analysis of it?

You mofo's are looking at the wrong penalty appeal. Have a peek at the one were Evans manhandles Agger in the box.

Apart from the Shelvey-Evans tackle, there was the time Evra absolutely cleaned out Sterling just outside the penalty area - No yellow. Also, the dangerous two-footed van Persie tackle - if consistency was applied that should really have been a sending off offence aswell.

I think Ryan and Vlad are susceptible to the same thing as referees tend to be when a player goes all theatrical. They're blinded by it, and missing the most important thing. There was definite contact on Suarez. Should he have acted like he did? Should he have just went down normally? Or should he have stayed on his feet? Who knows a fuck. It probably doesn't matter. He's marked his card and probably wouldn't get it anyway. The bottom line is, he was tripped. Ok, it may have been very soft, but if a referee is going to award Valencia a soft penalty he needs to be consistent, and award Suarez one too.

And there's another thing. Why didn't he book Suarez and Agger for diving?

Neal, you're allowed to foul a player as long as you get a piece of the ball. It's ok for Evans to trip Suarez because he touched the ball as it went past him. Why can't you understand that?

Because he's really upset and needs to find a scapegoat to make an unfortunate loss more palatable.

Was at Hershey park today with kids. Just saw game:

Jonjo: barely a yellow card, never mind a red
Their peno: at first I thought it was but on slow mo, I see no discernible contact.
BUT what we were doing so sparse at the back? And what did magic think would happen running from behind at that pace. Anyway...

Erm, we were sparse at the back because Agger and Glojo had wiped eachother out. You can't legislate for that.

Well it was a foul, and he didn't get it.

Why not?

Perhaps because the ref was too busy looking at him making a massive fuss of it with his arms and whatnot, and distracting him from the actual fact that he actually was being actually fouled.

He needs to smarten up and lose the dramatics

When I first saw it I thought it was a dive. The tackle on Sterling a few seconds later though looked a nailed on pen to me. Nobody seems to be talking about that incident strangely

It wasn't a penalty.

Yer'see Ryan, the problem with you over this subject is everyone knows what your response is going to be. Before even posting the paranoid thread I could name on three fingers the people who would say we were 'all being paranoid and the decisions were all correct', same over this. You made your point, Suarez is a tit and would have got the penalty if he didn't play act so much, but which is it? Have you decided it wasn't a pen because it was Suarez? That's the way it seems, and it's unsurprising, and predictable.

Yet I said prior to it that I felt the referee got the two major decisions wrong, why would I say that if I'm the fucking contrarian you're making me out to be?

You missed that in your rush to be a fucking smartarse Mark.

I don't even know if it was a pen Ryan, I couldn't decide when watching, it just seems you're always ready to jump on Suarez, s'all.

I think he's an annoying cunt Mark, but he's our annoying cunt I guess.

It wasn't a penalty.
