Pre Match Pre Match - Man Utd (H) - Sun 16:30

James Pearce saying he will be assessed. We probably won’t be told anything until Friday’s press conference.

The Gravy news for me is a sign he shouldn’t feature against Frankfurt or Palace. If it’s fatigue then his minutes need managing before next int. break when hopefully we can pull him out of the squad

Any update on Gravy's "hamstring injury' ? Lynch said 'fears eased' but it's behind a paywall so I can't read the full article. Seems to have been very quiet since he was withdrawn for NL.
I've seen it was precautionary, so hopefully he's fine

Will we come out firing with a point to prove or will it be the usual slow methodical disjointed crap?

I don't even want to imagine losing this game.

We'll come out guns blazing...

...and they'll hit us on the counter, score and sit back.

United putting the onus on Liverpool

Arne Slot may be more preoccupied with Ruben Amorim’s approach than Liverpool’s much-debated system as the Dutchman plots a way out of a rare losing streak. Manchester United’s 2-2 draw at Anfield in January, another false dawn as it turned out, was built on an improved and impressive mentality, according to Amorim. Slot was less complimentary, claiming a combination of United’s low block and long-ball tactics were responsible for frustrating Liverpool that day. “In the last 15 minutes you could see, if they play over the ground, how good they are,” was one of his many barbed comments. United played 61 long passes in the corresponding fixture last season, 15.9% of their overall total of 383, while Liverpool played 47, 10.7% of their 438 total. Slot has raised the subject of United’s tactics several times since, usually when conceding the champions still have a problem against low blocks and long-ball teams. The admission invites Amorim to play the same way. The onus is on Liverpool to find the solutions their summer recruitment policy was designed for. Andy Hunter

A quick check on Redcafe:

For the THIRD CONSECUTIVE season, Michael Oliver will referee the Liverpool vs. Manchester United match at Anfield.

Mazraoui isn't back in full training yet so he's unlikely to be available.

Manuel Ugarte is under consideration for a #mufc recall against Liverpool, as he was involved in United’s first-team training session on Thursday, but Casemiro was not, as he was given an extra recovery day after traveling to South Korea and Japan on international duty

We've played 4 away games this season against Fulham, Grimsby, City and Brentford. Just dreadful. There is nothing in those results and performances that suggest we can get anything at Anfield.

I'd be surprised if Casemiro starts given all the global travel. He just started a midweek game in Tokyo.

Dorgu is an athletic beast but his ball skills are limited. That said, I'd have start him over Dalot, who has been dreadful, it not direful (I've decided to make up a new word today) all season.

Amorim has hair, Slop is bald. There can be only one winner.
Response to the above : Amorim had a hair transplant, no? So who is the real bald fraud.

Kinda feel like he might drop Sesko for this. He will want to fit Mount in somewhere and either Sesko or Cunha will miss out.

Suspect it will be the same team as Sunderland, save for Dorgu coming in for Amad (with Dalot switching to RWB), assuming everyone is fit.

Maybe (though a couple are certain Amad won't start alongside Fernandes) and it seems Mount over Cunha :

................Lammens..................
..........Yoro....De Ligt....Shaw.........
...Amad....Case...Bruno......Dorgu
.......Mbeumo................Mount.....
.......................Sesko.......................

Their predictions so far :
  • 15% Liverpool 3:1 Man Utd
  • 12% Liverpool 1:1 Man Utd
  • 10% Liverpool 3:0 Man Utd
  • 10% Liverpool 1:2 Man Utd
  • 9% Liverpool 2:0 Man Utd

Slot on Alexander Isak: “I think now he’s had his five, six weeks of pre-season which is normal for every player, especially if you’ve been out for three or four months. Fitness-wise he’s close to the level he should be and I think we can judge him in a fair way from now on.”

Slot lays out his side’s troubles this season:
“We’ve conceded too many goals. We’ve conceded nine where four of them are from set pieces. That is still a strength of ours, which sounds weird if you concede four … The other five were two fast breaks and three from open play. In open play we are conceding too many crosses so that is one of the things we have to address and do better.” He also cites how teams are going long against them. “We have to find answers to that.”

Slot: Alisson to miss Manchester United clash

Arne Slot has the injury updates: Ryan Gravenberch is “completely fit”, Ibrahima Konaté is training … but Alisson will not play this weekend and has yet to return to practise.

Endo was absolute manure in his last sub appearance..
A lot of players played the full game and were absolutely manure. He's not had game time, he needs more minutes for exactly this reason. I don't know what people expect. It was the same last season, the perennial subs were getting such a small sample of game time they were barely having an effect. All of them. Go figure.

I'm pleased to see him turn up the heat a bit on Isak. I understand that Isak has needed a bit of time to get up to speed but now we need to see some results.
