Expecting heavy rotation for this but maybe not as much as will be required

Ali

Trent
Konate
Phillips / VVD
Tsimikas

Morton
Hendo
Millie

Lord Divock
Minamino
Ox

This would be a perfect team to play, leaving Mane, Robbo, Matip, Thiago, Fabinho at home.

Game after this is Villa at Anfield. In a way it’s useful to get minutes in potential key subs in that game like Divvy, Tsimikas, Millie so rotating safely is great. It’s just a shame that Milan aren’t knocked out!

Kelleher and Neco to start as well please.
The December fixture list is brutal and we need to rest players when we can.

Klopp will probably send out a reasonably strong side so that nobody can say we're devaluating the competition or whatever but we should be sending out a League Cup team.

------------------- Kelleher
Neco ---- Gomez/Phillips --- Konate ---- Tsimikas
----------- Keita/Ox --- Morton --- Milner
Ox/Gordon ------ Origi ------------- Minamino

Keita has been back in training since a couple of days. I'd start Morton, Keita and Ox in midfield. Minamino and Origi and some other kid in attack. Rest everyone we can - absolutely zero fucks should be given about winning this game.

Absolutely need to protect the first teamers who've played 3 games in a week already, and have another 7 coming up in this month.

I think most people would love NVP to play his last game for Liverpool in Milan. A fitting send off for the man that helped get us there.

While I agree with most of this, I'd also want to avoid us getting a real shellacking, in which respect that midfield would worry me so, in Milner's absence, I'd want Hendo in there and hope to bring Morton on later in the game.

I’m guessing Klopp will play a stronger team than we’ll expect.
The good thing about the CL is the 5 subs as well.

Gordon not in CL squad…

Surley we're resting Divock for the Villa game? This is a nothing game, Jurgen shouldn't risk him for this one.

This is potentially the most meaningless game we will have this season. Also, even if we make 10 or 11 changes we are still putting out a team of mostly full internationals, so it wouldn't exactly be a case of disrespecting the competition.

That said, I would doubt that Klopp will do that. Putting the entire second string in at once isn't that helpful to anyone, other than the opposition. I imagine it will be around 6 changes and we'll use all of our permitted substitutions.

Yeah but it's going to be a whole lot of reserves also. Remember, Klopp didn't rotate against Wolves. Played the same XI that he did against Everton. We have a very hectic schedule ahead of us.
Konate will start as will Tsimikas and Neco. Gomez just returned so, it's either him or Philips.
Milner will start the game in midfield with Ox, also Morton or Keita.
Upfront, I can pretty much guarantee that Origi and Minamino will start.
We're missing an additional winger so either Ox plays there or he will play one of Jota, Mané or Salah.
Don't know what the status on Firmino is.
In goal, obviously Alisson.

Also for this reason ...

Poor the Salah & Jotta... doesn’t get a game... doesn’t get left at home

I agree with @Richey, even with 11 changes we can field a team of solid international-level players – there is absolutely no need to risk anyone who had started against Everton and Wolves. We have lots of CBs in need of game time, so how about a rare switch to 3-4-3:

--------------------Kelleher--------------------
--------Gomez----Phillips---Konate--------
Bradley------Morton----Ox--------Tsimikas
-------Neco---------------------Minamino-----
------------------Lord Divock------------------

Would love to rest Mo in this game.

But knowing him, he'll want to win the golden boot in the CL, so he'll ask to play 60mins.

As long as we give 4 or 5 players a rest and don’t even make them fly, I’ll be relatively happy.

Fabs, Thiago & Mane top of that list for me (for different reasons).

Ali, Virgil, Trent and Mo should be on the no fly list too

Gordon isn't in the CL squad. Who knows what will happen. I think Klopp will play a stronger side than many expect. The paymasters at FSG must be satisfied.

I'd go for something like this

---------------------Kelleher------------------------------------
----Neco-----Konate-----Gomez------Tsimikas--------
---------------Morton----------Keita------------------------
---------------------Chamberlain--------------
--------Taki---------Origi----------Jota------------

[article]Milan’s injury crisis continues as Pietro Pellegri and Rafael Leao will be forced out of action against Liverpool due to muscle injuries.

Both strikers
were subbed off during the Rossoneri’s 2-0 win over Salernitana on Saturday and won’t be available when Stefano Pioli’s side host Liverpool at San Siro tomorrow.

Leao and Pellegri underwent medical examinations this morning, which highlighted muscle injuries for both.

Calciomercato.com’s Daniele Longo reports that Pellegri has suffered an adductor injury at his right thigh, while Leao picked up a knock at his right thigh, which caused a small lesion in his bicep.

Milan are training at Milanello this morning and Theo Hernandez is working in the gym because he has a cold.

The former Real Madrid starlet will be available against Liverpool tomorrow.

However, Pioli will have to cope without Simon Kjaer, Davide Calabria, Ante Rebic, Olivier Giroud and Samu Castillejo.

Milan must beat Liverpool to qualify for the Champions League last 16 and hope Porto and Atletico Madrid draw.[/article]
