Pre Match Pre Match - PL - Bournemouth (H) - Friday 20:00

Based on one preseason match? By that logic van Dijk and Salah who respectively rubbish and anonymous shouldn’t play..
Based on neither Szobo nor Jones are sixes (as a blind man with a blind dog can see) and so putting them together is asking for trouble - which we duly received.

4-0

Sjob and Mac double pivot thingy and wirtz ahead of them. That, with Salah Hugo and Cody will be way too much for most teams, let alone Bournemouth at home.

If Slot starts Jones and Szobo as a midfield two he's a fucking idiot. The pair of them run alot, have zero defensive awareness or positional sense and both dwell on the ball and give up possession far too easily. They're both in last chance saloon this season. Jones has been shite for ages and Szobo is getting away with it based on the odd flash of brilliance.

-----------------Alisson-------------
Frimpong--Konate--VVD--Kerkez-
------------Endo--Macca-----------
----------------Wirtz----------------
--Salah-------Ekitike-------Gapko-

I personally wouldn't play Gapko, but we don't have much else and he can pop up with a goal and can't seriously perform any worse than he did last week. He's under severe pressure this season with the emergence of the young lad and the potential signing of Isak meaning others may cover the left role.

Kind of has to be endo, or at least someone more specialised. Bournemouth aren't shite, so we need an effective screen at the 6. Jones ain't that guy, but with macca lacking match fitness and gravy suspended....I just cant see slot starting endo.

Ekitike had a great start. He seems like he has a great spring to his stuff. What a goal that was within 4 minutes.

If it weren't for Gakpo, I'd call that a potentially superb front line. It's kinda painful watching him keep going to his right to find space for a shot while otherwise being useless.* IMO, it's been a shame to lose the best Colombian forward because Dutch coach prefers Dutch players. Diaz was massive. And unique. He had a motor like nobody else in the squad.

Mac Allister on the bench. Argentinian, Number 10, world cup winner. I mean, we got the best midfield in the world.

* Ok. Not otherwise totally useless. But mostly. He's an improvement on Ryan Babel, but of a very tiny sort.

Zero chance that Szobo is in 'last chance saloon' this season. Slot loves him, his pressing last season was hugely important for us. He is likely learning a new position this season for us, but he's held in very high regard. Jones I agree with.

WTF? Why not go for a 4:1? Why go for a 2-2? We are champions. Why not be optimistic at the start of the new season. We also play at home. What kind of prediction is that? Sorry, but I just don't get it.

100% this. Dom will get huge minutes again this season.

Oh. Ok. So then all you write you write as a contentious scando. That still seems very strange. But I can accept to, like, ignore it because there are no actual opinions contained. One might develop an opinion that I am a contentious scando occasionally. But that would always be as a random by product of my sincere opinions. To act like that as a matter of a prescribed rule seems, frankly, very very strange.

You could choose to ignore it, but you didn't.

We "lost" Lucho because he wouldn't sign a new deal. I'm sorry he left too, but it had bugger all to do with nationality.

Here is to hoping that Slot can swim in "international" shit. VVD and Gakpo and Gravenberch were HUGE for him last year. Huge.

But he is one year into it. There's hope. The national shit can be ABSENT MINDED. Can create weird and unnatural and out-of-place tensions. Which is what happened to Diaz who was a grrrreeeat player for us. Unlike all other forwards we have. It is legit. insane we would "sell him." But there was bad and disasterous tension. Things couldn't be controlled and managed. Gakpo was preferred FOR NO REASON. Diaz left as a matter of a protest which I understand. He wasn't respected properly.

I'm with Diaz every step of the way. *People also tend to forget that he had A TREMENDOUS START TO THE LAST YEAR. He put in the work and put in the performances.* He had A TREMENDOUS START. But Gakpo was preferred and elevated and treated as such. That was most unprofessional. Most unprofessional. It is not easy to acquire and hold and have the top Colombian footballer. It was SH#T what happened to Diaz. And he is and was unlike all other of our forwards. He provided something unique and was good and he and was PROVEN in the Premier League.
