Lets be all negative nancy, as thats what this site does better than most. Thuram seems to be the only consistently strong link at this time, so there's every chance we may not get the range of players we all agreed we needed. Obviously we can hope for more, and may very well get more, but for you, whats your personal preference?

Assume we're selling no one else, and we've got 35-45m to spend on 1 more player.

This thread isn't to go "well i'd get n'dicka on a free and 45m on thuram", or "well i'd spend 30m getting tchoumeni". No. We're getting ONE player for a reasonable fee.. Stop being a cunt ffs and play the game.

It's a really difficult question because the fitness of our squad is so unrealiable.

It's a toss up between CM and CB for me. I'd probably be inclined to go with CM because even if we got a CB, he'd probably be on the bench when Konate and VVD are fit and we need an injection of quality on the pitch more than we do on the bench.

The problem is Konate staying fit but guess I'm rolling the dice and hoping he's available for 80% of the games.

And hopefully Bajcetic can come back and impress as a Fabinho deputy.

Sorry. Gonna be a bit of a greedy cunt.

First priority would be a DM, Gravenburch would be my pick (I think he can play as the #6 or #8)....extremely talented player for Klopp to bring the best out of. £30m.

& then the same day I'd release Guler's clause for £15m.

In my head we’re signing Thuram so after him a DM but right now it’s another CM. Then it’s on to CB imo.

If we have the legs in midfield we’ll probably look good with Fab / Hendo as 6. Not sure that’s where badger will thrive just yet.

I think we should go for a RB, I'm not sure who, but Southampton's RB is available atm and he's English so that might add to the quota as well.
If not him get, Max Aarons, also English.
In and ideal world we'd also be selling Gomez to find a better CB. Let Matip go as a freebie.
As is, we have him, Konate, Matip and Virg. So is CB really a priority? Definitely not in Klopp's eyes.

My list of priorities would probably go:
  1. RB
  2. RW (left-footed pref)
  3. CB, DM, CM. If I get my way and Trent plays in midfield, there's no real urgency to sign another midfielder. Fabs, Bajetic, Thiago, Hendo, Trent, Mac Allister, Jones, Elliott. I can only see us buying another midfielder if someone leaves.

I'd potentially lean more on the side of a CB, only because (as you say) the fitness concerns.

My logic is thus:

For CM we have Ali, Hendo, Harvey, Jones, Thiago. 2 of those 3 will be playing more often than not. Probably Ali and Hendo.
DM - Fabs and Stefa. Not ideal, but potentially manageable if Stefan develops as we hope

CB - VVD and konate starters, with gomez and matip as backup. If one of the fir first 2 is injured, form goes off a cliff.

Another thing to consider, is we could utilise Trent in the RCM spot, and push Gomez to Rb (shudder) or give Bradley a run out. It the system works, it alleviates the necessity for an extra CM this season, but i'd still want one next year. This could be a short term fix to a long term problem

My only issue with this is it's leaving us relying on either gomez or matip when ibou gets his inevitable injury/knock. Whether matips form last season was an aberration i don't know, but honestly it's a huge concern for me

I genuinely don't think Graveberch would work as a DM in this league. I think he'd thrive next to a DM, so maybe the RCM spot, but i just don't think he has the nous, nor the physical presence to be there

Physicality is probably 1 of his better attributes, he's a big boy.

We could go Fab - Grav - MacAl, whether it's him Kone or Thuram (or someone else) they'll take some kind of adjustment to suit to Prem standards but I don't see it being a problem for him.

But for sure a DM is top priority, we can't go the season with Fab & Baj, absolutely not....Virgil Ibou Matip Gomez could get by for another season, just about.

When you lot list out the CB options it does make grim reading. I think you’re right with CB being higher than DM

The size of the picture, it's huge.

Honestly no. Best i could find was his Ajax one, as thats where he played with a bit more consistency i think

Can't find a picture though
Well there's a lot of stats there, you don't want it small so you can't read it lol.

Makes for good comparisons, would suggest Thuram is more of a #6 or at least has played more often as a #6 but I think both can play the #6 or #8 effectively just as someone like AlexiMac could play the #8 or #10 as effectively.

There is room for manoeuvre under Klopp, we've seen Hendo as the #6 and #8, just like previously with Gini and at times too with Baj we saw that.

We need Thuram or another CM whom can run about. It’s good we signed Alexis but he can’t run so for priority is an athletic DM/CM.

Could really do with someone like Masch or Kante couldn't we? But at the same time we want someone physical and who can win duels aerially.

Early doors its neck and neck between RB and CM. I'm guessint the RB crowd think move trent to CM, and the CM crowd think we need someone mobile to cover for trent

I came into this window wanting 4 players, but looks like we'll only get 3 (Neil Jones and Fabizio Romano pretty much saying as much). So Thuram and a CB, and when December comes and the injuries pile up we might get another MF.

I was reading somewhere, Pep saying every season you have to change it up, and keep things fresh. We seem to believe in "make do with what you have" until it becomes stale and then you have to throw it away (ie they walk for free)

That's the Klopp way

There's one more player type I'd love for us to finally sign.
When I look at our midfielders, one thing stands out. We still don't have any attack minded midfielders, like a De Bruyne type.
Sure we've got Jones and Elliott...

CM for me - the right side needs another body.

After that it’s a DM, then a CB and lastly a RB - in fact I’d probably look at a backup for Mo before a new RB.

That’s based on us continuing with the system we finished the season with.

Ignored for using the ridiculous Americanism 'going forward'.
It's 'in the future' or 'from now on'.
And don't 'reach out' to me about this. It's fucking bullshit.
Why would i reach out to a prick? Mans acting like jargon doesn't exist.

Isn't Ali Mac exactly this?

Not really.

Would you really put Alexi Mac in the same bracket of players as Odegaard KDB Bruno & Mount?
