Former Liverpool FC boss Rafael Benitez makes first Inter Milan signing of Luca Castellazzi

Jun 18 2010 by Our Correspondent, Liverpool Echo

RAFAEL BENITEZ has made his first signing as Inter Milan coach after Luca Castellazzi put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the San Siro.

Benitez was only unveiled as Inter coach this week but has wasted little time snapping up the veteran goalkeeper, who is a free agent after his contract with Sampdoria came to an end this summer.

Castellazzi made 19 appearances last season before being sidelined for two months with a knee injury and losing his place to Marco Storari, but the 34-year-old claims he is now 100% fit.

“First of all I want to say thanks to Inter,†he said. “To become a Nerazzurri player gives me great pride. I really can’t wait to start, to put myself at the disposal of Rafael Benitez, I feel a great joy.

“I feel emotional, it is an honour for me to join the Inter family, I’m arriving in a very strong team.â€

Not exactly one for the future at the age of 34.

Nice one, Rafa.

God, I'm happy he's at Inter now.

Yes, I'm delerious that he's at the current European and Italian Champions with an £80m budget, whilst we're looking at Woy Hodgson and haven't got a pot to piss in.

I'm pleased for Rafa that he has found another good job. I'm also pleased for us that he's gone. He demonstrated in his time here that he is neither good with money, nor good without it. It'll be interesting to see what he does with the £80m, if indeed he has that much to spend.

Hmm. Maybe you should support Inter then?

Why?

If he signs a good winger this summer for Inter, then i'm going to love him 5% less.
[/quote]

If he does, rest assure you will see this guy as a DM when serie A opens.

The deal was actually in negotiation way before Benitez joined Inter, in Feb.
