I know it's a bit too soon for this thread, but I'm a bit bored. So let's do some football manager style bargain basement transfers.

Candidates:

Brighton & Hove Albion
Watford
West Ham United
AFC Bournemouth
Aston Villa
Norwich City

How about you pick three teams that you think will get relegated and then proceed to pick the players you'd "steal"?

My picks: Norwich (obv), Aston Villa and Bournemouth

Norwich:

Emiliano Buendia.
23 years old, can play in the front of the midfield and on the wings. Great technical abilities and passing. Good at defending as well. I think he'd improve a lot with better players around him.
Negatives: Needs to improve his fitness and mentality. Can disappear at times in games but it's understandable, considering who he's playing for. Hasn't scored too many goals this season.

Max Aarons.
20 years old, right back. Bit of a luxury signing imo considering that we have a few right backs already in Trent, Williams and Gomez as well. Tenacious defender, only weakness is maybe crossing and that he's a little on the short side.

Todd Cantwell.
22 years old, primarily an attacking midfielder. Creative player, runs a lot. Decent passer, gets some goals as well. On his day he can look like a gem but he disappears too often in games and he really needs to work on his tracking back and defending. Bit of a ball hog.

Jamal Lewis.
23 years old. Primarily a left back but can play in left midfield as well. He's better in attack than defence. Needs to improve a lot to but he still has potential. Pretty intelligent player but needs to focus more and work harder.

Bournemouth:

Nathan Ake.
25 years old. Central defender. He'd challenge Gomez and Matip for the starting place next to Van Dijk if he joins. Again, another luxury signing since we're stacked in defence. I think most of you know what Ake is about.

Villa:
Jack Grealish.
24 years old. Attacking midfielder, likes to cut in from the left. I don't like him at all. I think his attitude stinks and he's doesn't do enough defensively. All that said, he's a star. The guy can create scoring opportunities for himself and he's basically carrying Villa this season. You know what he's about.

John McGinn.
25 years old. Midfielder.
I didn't really notice him until people here started talking about him. To me he's like a Scottish Milner. Runs, runs and runs some more. Tenacious, determined and tough. But he can play as well. If we want a midfielder who can single-handedly tire the opponents out, he's the man for us. I bet Klopp would love him.

Pepe Reina.
Age 57. For sentimental reasons as back up.

If Watford go down get Sar. Mane will take him under his wing and he will become ace

Sarr is the most obvious one if Watford go down. Should definitely make a bid for him. Would soften the blow of losing out on Werner.

Though he'd have quite a few suitors surely.

Saka (Arsenal - not going to be relegated obviously) has only one year left on his contract. Would provide good LB/LW cover.

There were report in January that we were looking at Buendia and Lewis from Norwich.

I'm really liking the idea of signing him:

We might be able to afford a back up keeper and maybe an average kid from one of the relegated teams, like.

He's also very hard working and good defensively. He was immense when Norwich beat Man City.

Wasnt that before we signed Minamino, I doubt we are signing another player in that position.

From the list so far I think Sarr, Grealish and Ake are good enough to improve the squad. Sarr has bags of potential and if he gets the right move will go on to be a verybgood player. Grealish is already very good meaning hes probably priced out.

Looking at some of the other team in the relegation battle

West Ham - I think Cresswell would be a very good backup to Robertson, we cant expect Robbo to play 50+ games every year. Declan Rice at 21 is a very solid player who could play the Henderson role long term. I suspect Rice will be leaving either way this summer but if they get relegated he may go cheap

Brighton - Lewis Dunk would be a good addition to the squad if Lovren leaves and Klopp doesnt feel Hoever is ready to step up. Maupay has 9 in 29 games for a team thats woefully short of attacking option which is a very good return. I could see him playing the same squad role as Ings did.

True, totally forgot about Minamino.

I've only seen glimpses of David Brooks (Bournemouth) but from the bit I've seen he'd be my choice from Bournemouth. I mentioned Callum Wilson many years ago (when Bournemouth "stole" him for €2m from Coventry. I've been a huge fan of his for ages but at 29 and given his past injury problems and potential high transfer fee I'd reluctantly pass on him.

Wilson is a pretty average Premier League striker. He's only got double figures one season out of the 4 he's been here.

He's not bad. But he wouldn't be worth the fee he'd command.

Brooks is very good imo. For under 15m he'd be a very good addition to replace Lallana

I don't think I'd be interested in anyone from Watford or Brighton.

I'd take Masuaka as back up to Robertson.

Too much hype about Grealish which means a glorification tax for whomever wants him. There are better or equally as good players who are not constantly being talked about.
