Realistic Expectation

With Man Utd spending big again, Arsenal strengthening, Chelsea and Man City also spending to maintain and improve their squad what is our realistic ambition?
I think we desperately need a DM which will imrove our defence and finally a striker but lets be honest there isnt much available thats decent at a reasonable price. Rogers will have no excuse, he has been backed when normally in other clubs he would've got the boot. He is buying an awful lot of players who will need time adjust.
I think a realistic expectation is 4th.

With Rodgers in charge..

5th Maybe 6th..

With Klopp.. or someone who has a grasp of tactics Top 4..

UTD will be the team we need to catch.. Arsenal will compete with City & Chelsea

We should compete for 4th. I think it once again will be even more close then last season.
Chelsea and City will fight it out for the title. Arsenal will be up there for 3rd and ourselves and Utd will compete for 4th.

If Utd get some of all these "dream" signings they're linked with then maybe they will be fighting for the title aswell. But as of now I cant see it.

For our own sake it depens on how the new signings settle, if we get another striker and if Rodgers can set us up correctly.
So far the transfer window has been excellent.

Depends how serious we take the Europa.
Top 4 is easily attainable if we rest our top players in Europe.
I've got a feeling United will improve again this season unfortunately.

If Utd improve again, where's the top 4 position coming from? I don't see us catching Arsenal or City yet.

I know Arsenal always get top 4 but the way tika taka is dying I believe it's our best shot.
They've a fairly injury prone squad too.

United have to cope with European football again. Their squad will be tested.

I think Arsenal and Chelsea are top two next season and we need to fight with the Mancs of both shades for fourth. 4th is as high as we can realistically expect though

It's not the Arsenal always get 4th so they always will thing. I find that lazy and dim witted myself. It's that they genuinely seem to be improving now. I wouldn't be surprised if they fight for the title.

Well yeah they seemed better last year at grinding out tough results but they usually are a couple of injuries short of a disaster but if they buy shrewdly again this summer they maybe can challenge.
I just don't think they can match Chelsea in the big game situation.
Arsenal won't set up to stifle the big teams away from home and it will probably cost them in the long run again.

It depends on how seriously we take the fucking UEFA Cup.

If Brodge is in any way clever, he'll fuck that club 18-30 trophy shit off, and go fuckin gung-ho at making top 4 in the league.

3rd or 4th, I think.

Both manc outfits have a potentially tough year ahead... If the scum lose DeGea, that's an enormous loss for them (their POTY twice in a row now) which could have a big domino effect of the defense in front of him - They were confident with him behind them to bail them out... If he's gone, they tighten up, maybe make more mistakes, suddenly they're shipping goals again, the confidence is eroded away, the mistakes multiply, etc... I think lots of people are underestimating the problem his loss would be to them. And city could have a title-or-bust type year which, when the chavs start to run away with it again and they drop a few silly points, manifests itself more of the kind of idiotic / passion-less displays that we saw last season. I just don't think that they have the fight in them anymore, and could really drop down to a position far lower than their talent & spending warrants.

With squads as they are now, I think we're on for fifth, and close to fourth. If luck goes our way, and against one of the teams above us, we might nick fourth spot.
