[/quote]Course they do. But they'd cost 30m combined and that's our whole budget (once we've sold mascherano) and Rafa has that earmarked for a new right back and Ruben de la red.

Kjaer would 'only' cost us £9M due to his buy-out clause Oncy and the latest reports of Gala beeing interested in Babel in a swap deal would probably decrease Arda's prize with around £8M at least. Latest offer was rumoured to be Babel + £4M wasn't it?

If true that's only around £13M upfront. We'd then still be able to buy a few more players especially if we are going to flog out some of the deadwood.

He might get to play half a season with Agger at Liverpool if he's lucky. No, wait, I meant if Agger's lucky.

As much as I think Agger's an excellent player, he's only played more than 30 games for us ONCE in 5 seasons. He might break that mark this season, but as it stands, he's only done that in 2006/2007, the year we won the FA Cup.

Skrtel hasn't been much better either, 20 in his first season (joining midway), 30 in the 2nd and 26 this season.

Kjaer would be one hell of a player if he turned out to be anything like the player this man below was:

I wouldn't say Agger is particularly quick. The fact that you can count on one hand the amount of players who are quick (Agger and Skrtel are debatable and certainly not lightening) is pretty depressing. Especially considering it's a key attribute to have and our rivals have it in abundance.
 
I think all bets are off regarding summer transfer targets until we know who'll be our manager next season. Benitez, I hope and believe, will be signing players for Juve or Real.
 
I think he'll still be here. And I don't think we'll have much of a budget either. Perhaps selling to fund purchases again.
 
If we finish sixth or seventh, you don't think the owners will make a change to try and get us back in the CL? I'd be amazed if they don't - it'd be tantamount to giving up on their investment.

I think that would be the right move, yeah, and the one I'm hoping for. I don't think they'll sack him, though, because of his contract and I don't think he'll walk away either. He strikes me as too proud, and certainly too stubborn.
 
According to Goal he was the best young player in the Serie A this Season.

According to me we should buy him now.

I don't think it's that cut and dried, on either side. Rafa might yet get the sack if the owners are forced to conclude that they'll lose more by keeping him on than they'd save by terminating his contract. He himself might walk if he keeps getting stonewalled over transfer funds and if there's another good job waiting for him. Not saying he WILL go, just that it's still all up in the air IMO.
 
We are his preferred destination but we are skant. No chance of that happening! We live in hope.
