For those of us who grew up watching us win titles regularly it's a bit concerning how many people think we have this wrapped up. I love that so many are being so bullish, but there are so many different scenarios. Chelsea will be a nightmare game of niggles and bullshit mindgames and touchline histrionics, not to mention they actually have some very good players (albeit all total cunts), even if we get a draw Citeh can overtake us. We have to go to Palace who will throw everything at us, including the ball from every throw in anytime they are in our half. I'm not being defeatist, I just will not be celebrating anything until the final whistle goes at the end of this remarkable season. Yes, I'm delighted, shocked and proud as fuck of what this team has achieved, and they have given us a remarkable set of incredible wins playing boss football, and are a young team massively on the up, but nothing is decided yet. I'll continue to think we're third favourites as it's the only way I can cope.

I suppose it's a bit much to hope for Sunderland beating City on Wednesday? Can you imagine? We'd just be able to focus on finishing above the Chavs then.

City are gonna beat Sunderland 6-0 though.

No chance Sunderland can get even a point from their games against City and Chelsea this week. If Borini scores the crucial equalizer and/or winning goal in both games, we should guarantee him a starting spot next season.

Agreed. I don't like talk of us being favourites. The league is as much in Chelsea's hands as it is ours. I also have a concern that we might end up losing to City on GD - really hope we turn up against Norwich!

It's not in Chelsea's hands, is it? If they win all their games and City do too, City win the league.

I think I've had a maths fail somewhere.. Hadn't noticed that Chelsea beating us would actually open the door to City.

Bloody nailbiter end to the season!

It would also open the door to Chelsea! At present they are only two points behind having played the same number of games. The Chelsea game is now every bit as big as the City one.

It is strange how every victory actually piles on the pressure. If this goes to the last game the pressure on the players will be ludicrous. I think BR will need to take the players to Alton Towers or something the day before.

They'll be fine after one of Mr Rodgers infamous tickle sessions.

'C'mere Victor, ive a wee something for ye. Its from me, just me. The manager. Me. And all the other players, its from me and all the other players and thats it. And the support-hers. C'mere, its tickle or kiss, up to you'

So Sterling can eat his packed lunch on the bus on the way down then throw up everywhere on the first ride, ruining Suarez's new shirt in the process?

No way. That would destroy team spirit. Especially if Stevie G forgets to bring his pocket money and none of the others sub him to go on the dodgems.

Of course they'll sub him. Anyway. BR will get passes for all the rides for the team. That's how he rolls.

We have just over a 50-50 chance of winning this thing. % courtesy of sportsclubstats.

Liverpool 53.8%
Chelsea 24.8 %
Man City 21.4%

Therefore not a given by any stretch !

That must be balls. Chelsea are 5/1 to win the league and Citeh are still 5/2.

I can't see the bookies getting it that wrong.

The 4th official seems to be sending a dumping text to his now ex missus

Chelsea should be 3/1 to win the league because they should be 3/1 to beat us at Anfield and if they do that then they'll win the league.

I would say the correct prices are...........

Evens LFC
3/1 Chavs
3/1 City

The 5/1 currently on offer for Chelsea is way too big.

Chelsea should be 3/1 to win the league because they should be 3/1 to beat us at Anfield and if they do that then they'll win the league.

But as Gerry just pointed out, if they beat us and City win all of their games then City would win the league..

Agreed that there is the chance that they will drop points but it does seem to be statistically possible for them to win given a Chelsea win and all 3 teams winning all other games.

Bloody hell - all of this 'what if' analysis is destroying me!

I'm of the opinion that City will only get a point (or less) at Goodison.
Me too. And I fail to see why Chelsea are at 5-1. They have 3 easy fixtures and us. If they can win at Anfield - where we will be without Henderson, Moses and possibly Sturridge - then that could be enough for them unless City win out - which I doubt very much.

This strawman is starting to get on my tits.

As Oncy and JJ have said, no one thinks it's in the bag. We're all bricking it and we all dread the thought of it all tumbling down.
Some of us choose to approach it with excitement and bullish confidence. Some prefer to protect themselves by refusing to get excited.

Personally, I think my way is more enjoyable, but I am not going to start a thread about people's negativity just because some posters have spent every week telling us how they can't see us winning the next game or the title.

Bookmakers odds aren't set on % likelihood of winning.

They're set to make the bookies money and I suspect there's a lot of sentimental money going on us now thus shortening our odds so they have to price the other 2 attractively so they can recoup money if we do win it.

If we beat Chelsea and Everton beat City at Goodison.
We could win the title at Palace the following monday.

This is the scenario I was picturing over and over while trying to sleep last night.

Get through Norwich first mind...

I dont think anyone thinks its bang on at all.

Me neither. Same old hysteria about the same old hysteria. Mind you, I'm not so keen on your hysteria about the same old hysteria about the same old hysteria. You're going to cost us the title with your internet words.
