I like fast players, a good counter-attacking goal is probably the best sight in football.

The team above was just shit, it wasn't the slowest team we had at all. I think 05/06 was the worst for that. I'll never forget Rafa playing Crouch and Morientes up front.

That wasn't as bad a Crouch, Kuyt & Voronin!

So raise Your hand ( or more discret hide your head in shame) everyone who ever Heard the words " Hodgson is a good call to steady the ship" come out of Your own mouth at some stage..... ;-)

I actually had to sit and try and remember the names of some of the retards in that first pic up there.

'PLAY PACHECO RAFA FFS!'

Remember that balls getting wheeled out continually by knobheads on here?

Apart from Babel, the constantly injured Brazilian, Shelvy, and Joe Cole - I have no fucking clue who the rest are. Did we really have that team ?

It used to be so frustrating watching the mancs tear up the league year after year with pacey, quality wide players whilst we all but ignored it, and when we did decide to look for wingers we would do it all half arsed as usual buying up a lot of shite that was never good enough in the first place, we haven't had a quality pacey winger this century at the least until young Sterling, how utterly pathetic and frustarting that was especially when the united blueprint was there for all to see for the last 20 years.

That team was necessary to cause an emotional clotting. After that I couldnt get negatively worked up after a result. It helped in a way.

That's a good point. We were kind of anesthetized. Last season slowly drew me out of that state. I spent March and most of April getting my sense of feeling back ... and just when it had returned we played Chelsea.

I was always baffled by him. He did indeed have pace, but apart from one game against Derby I don't remember him actually using it to any great effect.

The goal he scored versus Derby was insane. Slick drag back that dumped two players on their arse and then shot across that fooled the keeper.

To be fair to him, he did use his pace to great effect to earn the penalty against the Gunners and then score the final goal on a quick counter to cap off a fantastic win in the CL.

Oh and that Torres goal was sick. And Gerrard's penalty - how many times in his career has he scored a crucial penalty for us? Amazing nerves.

So many memories watching that vid. Rafa's time feels like a lifetime away! If only Babel played more like that...

I remember being very excited over Pennant cos he'd bring us pace.
