So what are we expecting from him this season?

Personally I'm made up for him, fairytale stuff for a boyhood red to be getting his chance at the club, so late in his career.

He's a clever player, great in the air and he's got good feet and awareness, to play in between the lines or up top. Going off the fee, age etc, he's not likely to be an ever present, he'll be another option to have and will provide depth, while the low fee doesn't burden him the a massive outlay to justify.

Personally I think he'll give us about 10 goals a season and a good, experienced option to call upon to compliment our younger, more mobile attackers.

I think he'll be terrific. What happens after this season is another matter - obviously I hope he goes on to see out his days here and covers himself in glory, but at least in the short term I'm really hopeful. He's not quite arrived under the radar, but there's no great hype about him and yet he's a fabulous mixture of traditional and modern qualities for a forward, he has huge personal drive to do well for his boyhood club, and he's eminently 'coachable' - I think he'll thrive under Rodgers, who'll trust him more and more.

We could do with captains across the pitch, it was where we (partly) fell short last season, not having a cool head in there to tell players to calm down and keep possession. We could do with a few more like him.

I just expect him to calmly slot in almost all of his chances from inside the box, which will set him apart from the rest of our attack. Any other aspects of his play will be a bonus.

He's been given the chance to make a great impact in a squad challenging on four fronts. Ideal and astute signing as he knows what this club is all about and he'll be a senior player who will show the young ones what it means to play for this club. I think Brendan has done well to bring in a local lad who can shoulder some of what we miss with Carra being gone. I'm not sure if much is expected from him as I don't see him being an automatic starter, he's here on merit but if he scores goals and works for the team then he may find himself in the 11 by default. It's win win for everyone if that happens.

Completely agree, yes.

He'll probably end up being a legend and we'll all wish we had him years ago.
I hope he gets 15goals.

That'd be great wouldn't it! If we could also tighten up defensively to concede 15 less next season all we'd need then is someone to cover Suarez's assists (including penalty opportunities) and we wouldn't be too far away. #believe 🙂

Not only is he a solid 3rd, 4th choice striker to call on, he's a massive presence off field as well. He'll certainly help Lallana settle in, and I won't be surprised if they continue their prolific partnership next season.

Just an all-round good lad to have in the squad, nay, club.

I'm expecting 12-15 goals from Lambert and I'm confident he'll achieve it.

He's a good player who will be determined to have his name sung on the Kop.

I think the heart is ruling over the head with this one. My expectations aren't too high for Lambert

Difficult to expect much, but he will offer a better option than Borini and Aspas has been for the last few seasons so we are strengthen that way. I am not sure I Buy into that a cool head would have helped us last season as the portion of madness we had got us in a brilliant position. There was a moment or two a cool head would have helped us, but without our gung ho style we would never needed those cool heads anyway.

he's fucking 32 and bang average.

Nobody is saying he's a world beater. He scored 14 two years ago. He scored 15 last year. It's reasonable to expect the same this year.

Especially given he will likely be given games against shit teams in the cup.

Rickie Lambert is going to surprise alot of people. I'm made up for the lad. I like his attitude in that he said he ain't here to make up the numbers. He's here to to play as much as he can and win. Great attitude.

With the creative players we have, he'll get plenty of opportunity to bang them in. Set piece threat too. He offers us a definate plan B which at times last season was lacking.

He's not average at all. He's a good all round centre forward who has a very respectable goalscoring record...including two seasons in the Premier League.

I think he'll be a very valuable squad player and will chip in with 10-12 goals. Them goals could prove decisive.

Lad turned up a few days early at training. How's that for attitude? Go Rickie!

Boss attitude.

[article]Rickie Lambert cuts short holiday to begin pre-season training with new Liverpool teammates

Reds' England contingent weren't due to report back for duty until squad fly to Boston for the club's tour of America this Sunday

Rickie Lambert has signalled his intention to make a flying start to his Liverpool FC career by returning to pre-season training a week ahead of schedule.

The Reds' England contingent weren't due to report back for duty until Brendan Rodgers' squad fly to Boston for the club's tour of America this Sunday.

However, the 32-year-old boyhood Kopite opted to cut short his holiday in order to ensure he's firing on all cylinders ahead of the new campaign.

The £4million summer signing from Southampton was at Melwood on Monday to begin work with the club's fitness staff - less than three weeks after England's World Cup campaign in Brazil ended in bitter disappointment.

Lambert won't play in Wednesday's opening friendly against Brondby in Denmark and is unlikely to feature against Preston at Deepdale on Saturday.

His first taste of action for Liverpool is set to be against Roma in Boston on Wednesday, July 23.

Fellow England internationals Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling, Glen Johnson, Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana will also be on the club's US tour from the start. They will begin their pre-season at the Reds' Harvard University training base.

I think we'd all do that in his shoes but it just confirms he's proper fan.

I don't think he's average either, imo England would've been better off with him in the side than Rooney. Yes I doubt Lambert could have played the same ball Rooney did to set up Sturridge but I reckon he would've finished a couple of the chances Rooney fluffed. Average is Anichebe, Chamakh, Bendtner, Aspas, he's no Suarez but he's way better than those.

We may think they're shite but you don't get games in the Premier league by being shite. He scored more than Van Persie, Benteke, Negredo, Eto'o, Podolski, Sterling, Wellbeck, Adebayor last season.
