You have to give the fella credit for what he has done at Fulham, got Duff today to add to a decent squad.

Its a shame that he has not had a go at a top English team, maybe his time will come.

Always respected him, Fulham must be chuffed with how things are looking compared to relegations battles.

Good manager

A genuine guy and a true gentleman in an industry where that is a rare commodity.
Indeed a decent manager too

regards

He's had a very strange career but quite a successful one, managing 2 international sides as well as one of the top sides in Italy.

Maybe if it hadn't gone wrong at Blackburn - when they were a pretty big club remember - he might have ended up with a bigger club in England.

I agree, he has done a great job at Fulham

I read a Danny Murphy interview recently and he said something along the lines that Hodgson treats every player with the same respect regardless of whether they play or not and that hasn't been the case everywhere he's been.

I'll hold my hands up and admit that when I heard he had got the job at Fulham I thought it was a terrible appointment. I couldn't see how he could bring the club forward but he has been brilliant for them and has some guys in the first team that are going to be sold on for a big profit, most noteably Hangeland.

I also think Nevland, although he doesn't seem to start too many games, looks a very capable striker and seems to be very clinical in front of goal.

If I was forced to replace Benitez with another Premiership manager, Hodgson would be very high on my list

Nice guy, good manager. The game needs more like him.

Jesus, I thought I was the only one who thought that about Nevland. Surprising he didn't play more last season considering how few goals (2) Zamora got.

Hodgson is a gentleman, he's done a superb job with a squad that was doomed when he took over 2 seasons ago.

I never said behind anyone, but you'd be idiotic not to consider Wenger and Anchelotti too.

He's a top man. A real student of the game. Knows more about the game than most too.

He's done really well at Fulham and confounded the expectations of quite a few (me included) who remembered things going t!ts up for him at Blackburn previously.  He does seem a decent guy and, as others have said, the game isn't exactly overflowing with those.

That said, IMO he would not be a good appointment for us.  If I remember rightly, it was when Blackburn had progressed enough to get into Europe that things began to unravel.  I wonder whether Hodgson is one of those managers who are excellent at making the best of limited resources, but rather less good at winning things with all the resources of a really big club at their disposal (in English football anyway), a la Ron Atkinson.

It's cos he made an absolute fucking arse of the Blackburn job. And remember, Fulham fans were up in arms at his appointment. Luckily for them, it's worked out.
