Sal-ittihad

Harry Kane, a year younger than Salah, with a poor injury history and 12 months left in his contract just went to Bayern for €100m. He has negligible commercial value because he's a boring cunt.
Salah is one of the most marketable players in world football, excellent injury record and objectively the most desirable "property" for the Saudi league.
31 or not, Al-Shittihad can put a very large bucket load of cash on the table tomorrow or they can fuck right off.

Exactly, we should be asking for 300 million for allowing him to move next summer.

The timing may be bullshit but of course it's true they want him and yes he probably wouldn't mind going.
£500,000 a day for playing in your own region.
We can say no this season, but we have a whole year to plan for his departure next season, and it would be negligent if we didn't plan on that basis.

Obviously, he's always been their no 1 target. Forget Benzema, Mahrez etc
Salah is huge in the Arab world, because they see him as one of their own.

Which is exactly why he's going NEXT summer.

The home coming marketing ploy.. this year sets the scene.

There’s a story told about Beckham’s move to Real Madrid.
It goes that the two clubs are in a meeting to discuss a deal. Madrid make it clear that want him and tell United to name their price. They do. Madrid’s guys don’t blink. “We’ll have to step outside and have a chat”, so they do just that. And when they get outside, they look at each other and one of them says “They think they’re selling us a football player”. We mustn’t make that mistake if and when we do a deal.

Selling him now would be insane obvs, we'll get the same money at the end of this season. So, don't do it now.

Has Harry Kane got a bad injury record? He doesn't strike me as that type of player. But either way, under contract, and 31/32, Salah should be worth nearly 100M to a club with no budget constraint.

Szoboszlai could go right if/when Salah leaves
He could operate there but I hope not, been having so much fun watching his MOTM performances in that midfield and I really think this season could be the breakthrough for Doak, he was arguably our brightest spark in pre-season....give him a go.

The whole football world seems to get crazier by the year.

What if we accept a deal THIS year that get's Al-Saudi their man, Salah the wages and Liverpool the player? One year loan back. We get a very big number transfer, Salah gets his cash and one last chance to win something important, Al-Saudi get their man.

Everyone's a winner? (assuming we spend the cash wisely)

No way.

This is effectively giving us 1 year notice of a sale. We have 365 days to drive the price up, up, up. Burj Khalifa high

Like Beamrider said, we're not selling a football player here.

They're offering sky high prices but we could, and should, push them to the moon.

If Neymar was worth €222 million to the Qataris, surely the Saudis can't lose out?

And spend that time finding a replacement. Because there is no-one on the books to do what Salah does.

It’s equally likely they don’t offer a crazy fee, Salahs agent acts like a total cunt (completely sanctioned by Mo but without spoiling his reputation directly) and Klopp being known to let players who want to leave go doesn’t put up a huge fight. So we get something reasonable but not amazing.

Always amazes me in these threads when people ask would you sell him hypothetically for 200 million, and everyone says yes.

As if we'll ever spend any of that money.

Part of the argument for why we'd bite someone's hand off for that money (apart from it overvaluing Salah grossly) is that that is the ONLY money we ever seem to spend.

We built one title winning team that way. We probably can't do it that way again, but that's true of keeping Salah too.

I think that's only likely in a year. They'll get him cheaper that way too. It isn't as though they seem to give a shit whether the players they buy are going to seed, they just want the name.

There's no way they should EVER get the fucker cheap. He's under contract and is one of the best players in the world.

These blurts who think we can replace him, where are the 30 goals a season coming from?

The same place they are coming from as he fades into oblivion anyway. From other players. You can buy them sooner or later, but it will be a little easier if you have money to buy them with.

He's already not anywhere near the player he was.

Great stuff. Show us someone with that output then.

He's one of their own. Hence, super premium price.

You don't go to another country and see your own ham sold to you cheap. No you buy it back at ridiculously jacked up prices.

How many outside of the box curlers did Allison score? Vvd known for his twinkle toes? They replaced coutinho.

Without Salah and with another right sided forward who scores less goals but tracks back, we could play more aggressively through the centre. Then you end up with goals from midfield and cf, that would make up for the loss of goals (that again, will happen whether we sell him or not). That's just one way of indirectly replacing him. I already think he's lost the ability to be a one man counter attack. How are we replacing those goals we've already lost?

What?! They are buying them to put out to stud?!

Thuram and kudus in, szob moves to rw. That's the resolution for this summer if we sell.

Hopefully we don't mind

This is clearly news funded by Newcastle's owners ahead of our game. Hopefully Mo bangs a couple in to teach them a lesson... before we then cash in for £150m

From todays presser;

Jurgen Klopp when asked about Mo Salah's commitment to Liverpool. "100%"

Jurgen Klopp: "There's nothing to talk about from our point of view, Mo Salah is a Liverpool player, if there would be something the answer would be no"

Close the thread.
