Save Our Season

From the title and some of the posts, this is all a bit of a forum meltdown thread.

Premier League Sport GIF by Liverpool FC

Did you say melt? By chance, a flabby melt?

I think that Slot envisions a system that doesn't have a place for Salah, Gakpo or Mac Allister.

But he thinks he can't drop them because they are our best players. That's why our team looks like a wretched mess of square pegs in round holes.

Chelsea / United are basically our team from last year + record signing, but confused. Slot displayed a lack of conviction and courage in his team selection imo. Hope he realises he has a 50% chance of getting sacked whatever he does, so better to die being true to the plan.

Aldo:

"Liverpool haven't actually played well since they won the Premier League against Tottenham back in April.
"In that time, they have played 12 games and lost five. You can forgive it to an extent at the back end of last season but look, it's not a habit this club should ever feel comfortable getting into. That's a win percentage that simply isn't good enough and if they don't address it soon, this might be Arsenal's title to lose. The record is there in black and white."

What I would do:

* Wirtz starts every game going forward. You've committed 100 million quid - he has the talent, he's young and he will turn it around.
* Ekitike, as Keni said, can work in any formation - he's hard working, in form and able to play LWF (if you wish to keep the 4-3-3) or CF or even RWF I'm sure. He should play until form dictates otherwise.
* Adjust the formation and approach - last year's approach no longer works.
* Macca is off form and/or injured - sub until he's back.
* Salah is off form and a liability defensively - either change formation to 4-3-1-2 (where he's in the front 2 and really doesn't need to help defensively etc) to accommodate him (due to the fact he's a star etc), or drop him.
* Ibou is off form or dreaming of his 3some with trent and kylian - drop him for Joe Go and hopefully, he lasts the season healthy as on form, he's really good.
* Enjoy every minute of Alli. Mamma is good but he's not that good
* Play in form players - it's ok if the name isn't the biggest but ensure the squad knows - if you're playing the best, you play. The team comes first.

But why do all these sensible things when the seasons over?

I don't see us being consistent enough this year to challenge even if we find a way to sort our shit out in the short-term.

And ya'know, as long as we finish in the top 4, that's okay. I expected a transition season last year and we unexpectedly won the title... so it's coming a year late.

What I'd like to see is a clear plan and progress but I didn't really get the plan in the summer and I still don't now. That's more of a concern.

If this is a temporary reaction it can be managed, but not at the cost of special treatment please.

If this is more than that, sell - simple as. However amazing Mo's been, this kind of behaviour will be a drag on the whole club if it continues.

Its been removed - can someone please explain what it was?

Sounds like Salah or his team throwing the toys out of the pram, or did i get that completely wrong?

Salah up to yesterday afternoon had his profile picture him with the fans. He was dropped and suddenly his profile picture was a family picture.

Still mentioning teams playing long balls against us, this prick.

How about you play play play play Chiesa and leave leave leave leave the stroppy egotistical twat on the bench bench bench bench.

“But we face lots of long balls, it’s no fair”. Probably because there are big fucking gaps for the opposition can exploit and get joy. When things work you keep doing them.

Shit like this winds me up. Wind your fucking bald head supporting neck in.

The league is over now, then, yes?

We're too shit to do anything in the CL. Best we can hope for is Champions League places. And even that looks like a mighty difficult objective to achieve on current form.

We have to win every remaining game to win the league so yeah, the league is over for us.

The league was over when we signed half a new team all at once in the summer. I'm not saying that was necessarily the wrong thing to do, as there will have been many factors leading to the choices we made, but it was always likely to cost us the title this season.

He needs to play a proper number 6 (ie Endo) and we'll be wide open until he figures it out.

Very frustrating to watch but it's been true all season so far, even when we've won (mostly scraped them).

I don't know how we fix this without signings. Sure we need to drop Salah but also probably Gakpo, and Rio isn't ready yet. So we need another winger. We are going to carry on facing long balls and apart from our two main centre backs, none of our other players are good enough in the air. Winning duals is now much more important and unless its in a press situation we lack the physicality.

The lack of physicality i think is one of the most alarming things.

Everyone is getting bullied by their opposite number, save The CBs and maybe Dom.

All our opponents seem, bigger, faster, stronger.

In this situation we should be able to play and skill our way round them, but Slot is currently unable to set them up to do this.

Really really concerning.
