Scudamore you utter bell end. Fuck off.

"There are lots of fans around the world who wish Manchester United were winning it again," Scudamore told Bloomberg.
"But you have to balance that off against, generally, we're in the business of putting on a competition and competition means people can compete."

What a total shithead.

If they're shit again next year they'll probably give them a ten point bonus at the start of the season following.

And we'll still win our third title on the bounce.

3 teams being able to win it with 7 games to go should be more than enough to raise interest in the PL "brand".
One of those teams in one of the most supported teams around the word aswell.
Scudamore can fuck off.

He's talking through his arse.

Interest has grown in the EPL because other teams have a chance of winning it.

Did he actually say that about the 'brand damage', or are the quotes posted his response to being asked "Does MU's decline affect the Premier League brand?".

If the latter, then his answer seems balanced to me.

I would think the main concern would be that a large chuck of United's global fan base have potential to churn and their loyalty isn't necessarily in the UK so they could quite easily move to supporting Real/Barca/Bayern/PSG etc.

Or City or Liverpool or Arsenal…..

If that's the case it is because they're shit fans. At least we know that the members of our massive global fan base aren't with us because we're churning out league titles.

Well..... no actually.

The thing is, the EPL gets more airtime than any other league.

Take Australia as an example - every single EPL game live on Fox Sports.

Until earlier in the season you couldn't get any La Liga matches. You can get limited games from Germany, France, Holland & Argentina - nothing front Italy apart from RAI International - which is hard to get.

In fact the SPL is probable the second most broadcast league - you can watch Glasgow Rangers live more than Barcelona.

It's not the same across the board - but I'd expect the profile to be similar.

Aren't these guys meant to be neutrals? Utterly pathetic. This title race is the most interesting one in years and has seen some of the best matches in years, he just sounds like a bitter Manc.

Yeah, if only there was some way that they could protect this brand by say, awarding them loads of dodgy decisions each year to ensure they won titles that weren't deserved therefore increasing the revenue of both the FA and that brand.

Indeed. And yet some folk refuse to believe there was ever any kind of bias towards United and Ferguson ever. Nope, none at all. Unless it damages our brand of course, fuck the actual competition side of things.

^ This.
So the Chief Executive of the Premier League - who is on nearly a million quid a year - has made a statement that makes him seem like a total nincompoop. He's just done more damage to the PL Brand than Manchester United being shit. What an utter Johnson.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but I am curious which statement you are referring to.

This one? "There are lots of fans around the world who wish Manchester United were winning it again,"

This one? "But you have to balance that off against, generally, we're in the business of putting on a competition and competition means people can compete."

Or the one about the PL brand, in which case could you please post it?

I think you may find many neutrals who don't really find any fault in what he has said. Factually, he's right. But I can see why many would take objection.

Whilst that may be the case in Australia - it is 100% NOT easier to watch Rangers or Celtic than Real or Barca in countries like China, Singapore, Malaysia etc

I don't really see what the problem is. He's the one who knows about the PL brand so he could well be right. Brizzle makes a good point about a lack of loyalty generally to the PL but rather to individual clubs, that does make sense.

As for this being evidence of bias - isn't Man Utd being 7th and humiliated on an almost weekly basis evidence of a lack of bias?

That's what you get for living in the arse end of nowhere...
