Marcelo is maturing as a player and is still only something like 21-22. Bastos seems an unnecessary signing.

Doesn't Bastos play more as a winger these days?

Marcelo plays further up the field these days too, when Mourinho needs a solid definsive full back he plays Arbeloa.

Michel Bastos has publicly told Juventus to make an offer to Lyon. “The time has come for a change of scenery. Even without Europe, it’s still Juve.â€

The Brazilian left-back had already been heavily linked with a move to Turin over the past year, but the time seems to have come for it to go through.

“I always tried to improve myself as a player and this is why I admit Juve’s interest is an honour,†Bastos told Tuttosport.

“What player wouldn’t be honoured? I think the time has come for me and my family to have a change of scenery and feel new sensations.

“I also know that I have two more years on my contract with Lyon and will only leave if this represents a good thing for me and my current club.â€

The Bianconeri have lost out on Champions League qualification and risk missing Europe altogether next season.

“No Champions League football? Even without Europe, it’s still Juve and I repeat the time has come for me to have a change of scenery,†continued Bastos.

“I couldn’t see myself with any other club here in France, so my dream is to move to Italy or Spain. The Premier League and Bundesliga don’t really attract me too much. My wife and I want our little son Lucas to grow up in a ore Latin country.â€

FRENCH midfielder Moussa Sissoko is being targeted by Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City for a move this summer.

The Toulouse star has been on the radar of British clubs for the past four years and turned down Liverpool and Bolton to sign with his French club as a teenager.

But now the 21-year-old is being lined up for a move to the Premier League, despite being under contract until June 2013

According to Lamine Drame, a source near the player, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal are honing in on the French international.

Last season, Sissoko played 36 matches and scored five goals and has previously been valued at £18million

where are we gettin our money from? is commoli a gun runner or something?

hope this happens though, we're dangerously low on midfielders

With our youth set up a perfect cover, he's obviously making money selling kids on to dodgy people.

*Places tongue into bottom lip*

Yeah, there's rumours going around that Adam, N'Zogbia, Downing, Wickham, Mata and Bastos will be wrapped up in a couple of days.

The only thing Wickham will be wrapped up in is a bit sunderland blanket after his transfer there last week!

If we get Bastos everyone has permission to jizz in their pants

this

yeah me too, thats probably because ive seen more of mata though, and already decided that he'l join and be immense for us

Bastos has as much power in his left foot shot as Riise did, but with far more accuracy. I've seen him play mostly on the right wing of a 4-3-3 for Lyon, which allows him to come inside and unleash his powerful shot. He has a very good cross from both sides of the pitch. He would be an excellent signing for us; I think now we need a direct, dangerous winger more than a midfield creator. We were already playing pretty good pass-and-move football under Kenny last season and with Adam, Henderson and, hopefully, healthier Gerrard, we should have enough creativity and technique in midfield. Now we need a good outlet on the wing, someone who is a fast runner, can score or pass and keeps defenses on their heels. And hits a mean free-kick. Bastos would fit the bill perfectly. He will shine here.

Juventus still in negotiations for Lyon's Michel Bastos, agent claims
Representative says talks with Turin side are still on course, but winger has other options if dialogue breaks down between now and the end of the transfer window.

Juventus are still interested in Lyon's Michel Bastos as talks over a possible transfer continue to gather momentum, agent Emmanuel De Kerckhove has told Goal.com.

"The talks with Juventus are still on course," the player's representative revealed to Goal.com.

Bastos, 27, has been linked with a move to Turin all summer, but recent reports claimed the move was unlikely to happen, with the Italians focusing their transfer hopes on Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero.

However, the Brazilian's agent says press reports have been wide of the mark.

"The talks have not gone off the boil like what has been reported by some of the press," he said.

Should neither Juventus nor Lyon reach an agreement for the player, who is valued at around €13 million (£11.7m), the agent claims his client has other possibilities.

"There are other options apart from Juventus, but that is a secret," he added.

"It's not about priority, but about thinking carefully when offers arrive."

Bastos' deal at the Stade Gerland expires in 2013.

Lyon defender Aly Cissokho is reportedly on the verge of signing for Liverpool for a fee of £8.7 million (€10m).

The Anfield outfit have had a busy summer in the transfer window to date, but missed out on Gael Clichy, who admitted to turning them down to move to Manchester City.

Le Parisen reports that coach Kenny Dalglish and director of football Damien Comolli have turned their attentions to the Blois-born left-back, who impressed for his underperforming team in 2010-11.

The report indicates that a deal could be wrapped up as early as the end of the weekend, with the Merseyside outfit looking set to continue their big-spending tactics.

Cissokho joined the Stade de Gerland team from Porto in 2009 for a fee of €15m (£13.1m), but owner Jean-Michel Aulas is believed to be keen to bring in revenue and is willing to make a loss on the full-back.

He has made 60 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, and has earned one international cap for Laurent Blanc’s Les Bleus.

From the little I've seen of Cissokho he seems to be the real deal, but there's still this fear of him turning into a Traoré.
God knows we've been unlucky with Africans, well except Sissoko. Loved Momo.

traore with pace and power could be incredible/catastrophic

but cissokho is much better than traore now, and i can't see him dropping that much in ability

I know but, Traoré is still lurking around inside my head.

He does look great going forward, but he does strike me as being a bit clumsy, reminds me a little bit of Micah Richards.
