They're unlikely to grant our wish and appoint Giggs as manager so who is the next best option?

Van Gaal is going to be preoccupied with Holland so it'd hamper their summer planning. Plus he's a bit of a mentalist. Could be good?

Bookies top 3 are:

Van Gaal 7/4
Giggs 6/1
Klopp 10/1

There's problems with all of those though. As you said, Van Gaal is tied up until the end of the summer. Giggs doesn't have all his badges yet and has never managed before. Klopp allegedly told Barca/Madrid/Utd/Chelski/City to do one over the last 2yrs when they've offered him jobs, he's not interested.

De Boer would crawl over broken glass for the job, you'd think. Martinez would be an amazing story, and strangely, I think he'd find it harder at Utd in some ways. He's been left with a defence that knows its job inside-out, and it gave himself a bedrock to build upon. Utd need a new back four.

They have to get this one right, as they can't start changing managers to often (as a plc and not a FC it looks bad for their shareholders!!). So it is tricky. Premier League proven... Winning titles.... Experience in managing big names. Fuck me that Hodgson had that poor stint at us or he would walk straight into the model!!!!!

He's moved on from flashing then.

I'm hoping Barca bin off Tata Martino and get De Boer taking him out of the equation. Klopp seems very unlikely to leave Dortmund (which is why I didn't even put him on the list), which then just leaves Simeone from that bracket of manager. On the one hand, there is a chance he'll struggle to replicate what he's done at A.Madrid at a bigger club, on the other... he's been really fucking impressive. Probably the most impressive manager in European football at the moment. I'd hate for him to end up at Utd.

He'd be absolutely insane to consider it.

Can't see them giving it to Giggs unfortunately. I wouldn't be upset if they appointed Van Gaal; don't want them to get Simeone or Klopp, wouldn't be fussed if they got Martinez/Ancelotti.

De Boer has been doing a great job but a very different job to the Utd one. He has spent no money and has largely promoted the youth team into the first team. Ajax has been rebuilt as a business model from the roots up for this to be the case as the Eredivisie can not compete with the money from other leagues and so will lose its best players.

Klopp has already ruled himself out and wants to stay Dortmund.

I'm guessing Van Gaal might get it, but whoever they appoint the rebuilding job is massive.

The reporter on talkshite just said that there's building work opposite Old Trafford on the 'Giggs Neville Hotel'. Wtf?

I wouldn't be arsed if they got Simeone, he can't speak English for a start and as good as hes been at A Madrid theres no guarantee he would waltz on into the United job and be a success.

If Ancelotti, Guardiola, Mourinho or Klopp got the job then that would be something to worry about, thankfully the chances of any of them getting it look very low.

If Hull win the cup they could go for Bruce. Replace Moyes with the FA Cup winner. It worked for Everton.
