BBC are reporting that Schneiderlin and Rodriguez could be heading to Spurs. I also just had a quick look at a Saints forum and they reckon that Clyne is looking for a way out (to a London club apparently).

Has anything like this ever happened before?

They could end up losing 7 or 8 first teamers along with their manager in one summer. It's absolutely insane. What on earth is going on there?

i was just thinking similar . I guess there have been firesales when a club was in trouble , leeds ? But i don't remember a time when a club lost so many of it's players to the so called big teams .

But they are getting top money for it , every sale you could say they have got good money . Lambert 4m , Lallana 20-25m , Lovren 20m , Shaw 29m? , chambers 12-16m ? ....so what is that , 90-100m so far . What are they going to do with all that money ? i suspect pocket it and piss their fans off .

yeah if you're at southampton and nobody is after you then it must be pretty disheartening .

A couple of Saints fans i know would take 17th right now next season if offered to them, there is frustration there that what they had built has been destroyed and even if they manage to do it again the same will happen.

It must be shit for them, but but it's also credit to them that have produced these footballers that clubs want to pay big money for.

They've clearly got a solid youth and scouting set-up in place, which must give them some hope in the future.

Presume Koeman will have a late spending spree on players in the Dutch League but it will be hard to get the bigger names to join them knowing they've lost ALL their best players.

Well she's raised 90m and they have debts of 50m or so. So she's got something left to spend on. Maybe the current youth system is producing some gems we have yet to see

The next time you hear a football CEO or Exec speak, remember this article from April. They just can't tell the truth if their life depended on it.

Ralph Krueger: We don't need to sell, says Southampton chairman

Southampton's new chairman says that key players will not be sold to pay off club debts.

Defender Luke Shaw, midfielder Adam Lallana and forward Jay Rodriguez have all been linked with moves away.

The club face a pending £30m bill for their new training ground and owe £27m in transfer payments - £22m of which is due this summer.

But Ralph Krueger told The Guardian: "We are definitely not factoring in a big player sale."

He added: "What we have here is very good and we are doing everything in our power to keep this group together."
Krueger is also determined to keep manager Mauricio Pochettino, who cast doubt on his future in January following the departure of previous chairman Nicola Cortese.

The Southampton boss, under contract until the summer of 2015, said then he would decide his long-term future at the end of the season.

But Canada-born Krueger said he was encouraged by the fact that Pochettino had demonstrated commitment at his previous club Espanyol, where he was in charge for just under four years.

Krueger, a consultant to his Canada's gold medal-winning ice hockey team at the 2014 Winter Olympics, joined the Saints board in February.

He said: "We are going to create a culture that this is an excellent organisation to be a part of at all levels.
"Whatever the dynamics of football, or the situations that can evolve outside of Southampton, we will just keep moving forward."

I can't see how any of these player departures will affect Southampton. Ross has educated us all for long enough to know that:

a) you should always sell your players when they're at their highest value, which they've done
b) the fact half their team is gone and will have to be replaced with a new set of players who'll take time to adpat to the system and way of play is irrelevent, because tactics and systems are irrelevent.
b) managers make no difference, so Pochettino, Koeman, whomever, they'll be right
c) they've no got money to spend which is all you need

I can't wait to see this living Ross case-study of success take place.

Everything in football are irrelevant including the players apparently according to our legal eagle.
