I think this would be about market value. Not necessarily the prices I'd sell at of course, but about what I think their value would be.

Interesting that a lot of you appraised Gerrard so low, I feel his name value itself makes him incredibly valuable. I can see him potentially going to MLS in a few seasons, where Dempsey and Defoe just went in the 7-8M bracket. With midfielders being much more sustainable with age than strikers, I can see Gerrard being worth at least 2-3x that number at the moment.

I think that about sums it up as far as current speculation goes. There were some links of Coutinho to Madrid, but if that becomes a real link, we can milk them for a really solid fee(~25-30M).

Glen Johnson is the only other one I can think of.

A player is worth what a club will pay, or what the seller thinks they are worth. We paid what we paid for Carroll. We also paid what we paid for Sturridge.

If Barkley is worth £50m then Hendo is worth £120m.

A few comments:

Johnson: 30 year old, out of contract in one year. I'd be surprised if he's worth over 4 million.

Agger: Approaching 30, injury prone and on very high wages. Not a wildly attractive target. I wouldn't expect more than 7-8 million.

Henderson: He's good, but I don't think more than 20 million good.

Coutinho: The 25-30 million valuations are way too high. He's an excellent prospect, but talented young attacking midfielders are a dime a dozen. There are about 10 of them in every league in Europe. Coutinho's good, but he hasn't distanced himself from the pack in anyway - he's still inconsistent and doesn't score nearly enough. 15 million would be a fair valuation. He's not a 30 million player at all at this point.

Sterling: I'd value him much higher than Coutinho, even if I weren't considering the English premium. He's just shown far more consistency, tenacity and end-product. And he's 2 years younger - the kid could be absolutely fucking shit hot in 2-3 years. 30 million is the least anyone would have to bid for him. As far as I'm concerned though, he should be completely off limits.

The other Rodgers signings like Mignolet, Allen, Sakho, Borini, Assaidi haven't really appreciated in value. They're probably worth about what we paid for them, if not less (certainly in Borini's case).
