Suarez open to contract talks - press twist words

Here's an article that left me speechless....from the biggest ManU prick ever

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has defended Liverpool's controversial striker Luis Suarez.
Neville wrote in the Mail on Sunday: "Liverpool fans sing: ‘We all dream of a team of Carraghers.’ But now they could just as well chant about a team full of players like Suarez, a fighter who will chase down the ball, one of the most skilful players in the Premier League, and a player who this season has had more touches in the opposition’s penalty area than anyone in the top flight.
"I understand why some people will never like him. The racial abuse he directed at Patrice Evra is totally unacceptable in England, whatever he says about what passes for acceptable language in Uruguay. But he has served his punishment for a big mistake.
"But the supposed cheating, the diving, the lack of sportsmanship? For me, it hardly merits the discussion time we give it. I haven’t got a problem with the handball against Mansfield other than that it was a poor decision that went against a non-League club and might have cost them a much-needed replay. But I’ve never heard the word cheat used so cheaply as in recent weeks by former players and pundits. Cheating, for me, is doping, cheating is match-fixing, despicable actions which undermine the whole essence of sport.
"When I look at Suarez I see one hell of a footballer, a player whose name you can be sure will be dominating United’s preparations. This is no show-pony. This is a player who doesn’t know when he’s beaten. In that respect he’s better than Fernando Torres, who you feel might get despondent when things aren’t going well. Not Suarez. He’d be in your face, scrapping every minute of the game, even if all hope was lost."

Mirror article a wee but misleading..

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez admits his decision to extend his contract until 2018 is validated every time he witnesses the home support at Anfield, insisting he is happy to remain a Red amidst interest from a number of European clubs.

Suarez, 25, has reportedly been a key target for Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Juventus in recent months, but the Uruguayan has readily quashed all speculation and urged the Liverpool faithful to continue the support that has kept him in the Premier League.

"It's something I'm used to now but somehow it continues to surprise me," Suarez said. "When I hear [the Liverpool anthem] on the pitch or even in the dressing room it still gives me goosebumps. It is incredible and even more so in the stadium when the people become emotional and show their passion.

"The world stops and everyone sings with their scarves up and it's such a feeling and such a motivation to play for this club. I'm very happy here and my family love the life here too. I want to enjoy being at this club where I, like all the kids, dreamed of playing and now I'm fulfilling that dream."

Rumours have suggested Suarez could leave Liverpool in search of Champions League football, but with his side closing in on fourth place, Liverpool's top goal scorer this season is determined that could be a reality this year, despite the club's failure to beat any of the team's currently above them.

"I'm very pleased and very happy because Liverpool is growing," he said. "It's not the team that it once was as they have had a dip. But now we have a new coach who has a philosophy of the game with which the players are very happy.

"The only thing missing is to have more positive results so we can finish in a Champions League spot. We showed we can match anyone - we had chances to win many of those matches. If we go into every game in the Premier League with the same intensity that we've shown in the big matches we can be much higher in the table."

In an interview with Spanish radio station Marca, Suarez refuted questions on whether he could seek a transfer from Liverpool but did respond when the broadcaster asked if the question would be valid in 12 months time.

"Yes, we should talk this June or the next one, in 2014," he said. "My contract ends in 2018. My family is very happy here and I'm living a dream: playing for a club that every kid wants to play for. So we're content, for now."

Benefit of the doubt lads with translation. He's said this kind of thing before but didn't move. We all know he will eventually so let's enjoy the ride

Maybe he is in one of the envelopes. The season is far from finished and he has plenty of time of biting some random black opposition yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if Suarez chooses to leave and I wouldn't blame him either really.

If I was him and had my pick of clubs, I'd probably leave too.

If he moves abroad and we get £40+ million for him, we can't be too bitter. I could see us using that money to bring in a player like Eriksen, Would rather keep Suarez though.

Where's Hansern?

This greedy twat tripled his wages over the summer and wants to look at his contract again?

Fuck him.

This greedy twat alone keep us above relegation zone. We are the ones that should be eager to look at the contract.

Why?

We have him signed til 2018 - he can moan all he wants but he can't leave. And we wouldn't be relegated without him.

First of all he is not moaning at all, he has sung the praise on how happy he is. Second of all, without his presence this passed autumn, I would not bet on it.

I don't get the need to always expect the worst from our players, or team. Surely some (most?) will let us down in one way or another, but some won't.

What are you on about Ross?
There is a key part of the interviews he's given thats not in any of these articles.
Where he says he'll stay regardless of us qualifying for the CL or not.

But, I dont get why anyone listenes to or reads these shitpieces anyway. There are probably 5 different versions in 5 different papers.

Dont bother reading them.
I know you have an agenda Ross, and so do most of these papers.

It funny the bollocks people read into things, clearly Suarez is pissed at the questions over his future despite emphatically spelling out he is happy.
Can we change the thread title back please.

I am not in the least surprised by Nevilles view, he is by far the most astute and knowledgeable pundit around

I really want to be smoking some of this airy fairy shit people smoke. He will leave within 2 years if we're not challenging. Maybe before. I wouldn't blame him either. He could get into any team in the world right now.

Fuck that shit. We'd blow it on another Andy Carroll. There's no way we'd replace Suarez for £40 million.

Players come and go; I can live with that. It's harder to take if it's a top drawer guy but that's the way it is.

Just don't:
(a) string the club or fans along ("we're close to a deal, we're working on it, we're close, I'm signing soon... oops wrong club!") or
(b) talk shit later ("there are reasons I had to leave, I had no choice, I will talk about them one day but you must trust me; the club broke their promises; one day, I promise I will tell everything").

Guardian has the same quotes, but a completely different interpretation: "Liverpool striker Luis Suarez keep for talk over new Anfield contract" is the headline. The quotes about "let's talk this or next summer" are taken to mean "talk about a new contract" by Guardian.

I wouldn't worry too much. Tabloid press preys on our fears. A month ago I thought it's 50/50 whether Suarez stays. Now I think he will almost certainly go nowhere this summer. Barca and Madrid might tempt him eventually, but for now it's clear he wants to be here.

Luis Suarezsays that if he could bring any Spanish player to Liverpool it would be Andres Iniesta.
Suarez was speaking on Spanish radio show Al Primer Toqueafter both players had impressed in Spain's 3-1 friendly win over Uruguay in Qatar on Wednesday evening.
Asked which of La Roja's World Cup winners he would most like to see join him at Anfield, Suarez did not have to think long.
"Iniesta, I have no doubt about that," he said. "For the quality of player he is. I am an admirer of his and of good football."
The former Ajax attacker, who has 17 goals in 24 Premier League appearances so far this season but looks set to again miss out on Champions League qualification with the Reds, also spoke with reporters in the mixed zone after the game at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha.
He told Mundo Deportivo that he was currently very happy in Englandbut did not rule out a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona in the future.
"I have a contract [at Liverpool] and I am very happy, my family is happy," he said. "[But] from here to the future you never know what will happen. The jump to an elite club would make me happy. Real Madrid and Barcelona always motivate you."

Nothing there we don't already know. Just a matter of time. Likely summer 2014.

If we're not contenders, we can all understand that

Fuck him.
He's our best player by a country mile. Fuck our owners for not bringing in the players to match his ambition on the pitch.
