Super Harvey Elliott

Is Elliott becoming pretty much undroppable? Throughout our uneven performances this campaign, he’s been the one consistent bright spark: always busy and in the thick of things, always available for a pass and himself passing it sharply and accurately (87.7% accuracy for the season). It’s starting to become hard to imagine this team without him buzzing around in all those zones between RW and right side of midfield; it looks like Salah, Trent and others are also getting more and more used to playing with him and are now relying on the runs and the passing angles he creates.

Let's hope his first ever Premier League goal will spur Harvey on for a great season.

I’m loving him in midfield. He’s got good vision, great endurance, tactically aware, decent skill set, and already understands the Klopp system.
He does lack physical strength, which is fine against inferior players but is a worry against the strong plus powerful midfielders in the top domestic and European teams, particularly if his midfield partner is Thiago.

He’s probably one of two in the running for player of the season (with Diaz) at this very early stage.

He’s been energetic and been a willing runner. Most evident by Salah’s biggest miss yesterday. Taking up position from the left and getting involved. He showed good pace to get forward and put it on a plate. I thought that move was more impressive than his fantastic finish.

Moving onto the finish. What a hit son. First time, giving the keeper little chance to prepare and with pace. Go on lad.

Is brutal strength really a requirement for a 19 year old buzzing forward player? The greatest of all time wasn’t like that.

In case you didn’t know, I’ve been a fan since the start and image where he’s be now had it not been for that injury.

He's not half kicked on like. I don't think he'll be as clutch in matches as Fabio might turn out to be, but he's certainly our form player in midfield

I feel like Harvey is on a similar trajectory to Foden - so he should be aiming for 20+ league games and 5+ goals (as he’s generally playing deeper.

I also think he could grow into being very similar to what Bernardo Silva offers City - intelligence, running, creativity, goals and capable of operating in the midfield or the forward line.

That move with him a key that should've and deserved a fucking goal had salah had his scoring boots on.

I just thought it was to give Fabio some game time. He could slot into 1 of 4 positions. Harvey was probably the one who'd sulk the least given his squad status, so he hooked him.
It was as Fabio said ... Klopp said in his post game interview that Elliott was taken off because he felt a twinge but there is nothing to be concerned about. Either that or it was a cover story to give Carvalho time !

He was superb, Diaz the obvious MotM but Elliott had a real 8.5/10 game. He and Carvalho are such great additions to the team when we need to attack.

I’ve just watched his movement for Diaz’s opener. He gets in the box late then stops with all the defenders concentrating on the ball going deeper and deeper. He’s in acres of space, available for the pass.

That’s what we’ve been missing from our midfield.

Hopefully klopp continues to give him license to do what the fuck he wants. We need that unpredictable element

I pretty much watched the Elliot show in the first half. Was obviously our best player in the first few minutes so i thought instead of watching the match like it was a game of one sided fifa I'd watch what he was up to when we had the ball and when we didn't, and he seriously didn't put a foot wrong. Finding acres of space when we had possession, closing the right people down when we didn't. He's a very good footballer.

In that thread about making one left-field prediction for the coming season, mine was that this would be the season Harvey broke into the big time. I've made my fair share of misjudgments about players but I've been confident about this fella from the very beginning.
And mine was that Trent would score in the double figures. 2 so far and its still August ... not counting my chickens yet, but these ones will make wonderful hens

Elliott has been brilliant. He's not your ideal Klopp midfielder, but like Coutinho before him, the manger is making accommodation and being flexible to make the most of his talent. Much of our play is running through him and he's rarely making a mistake.

I'm not sure how Elliott fits in when Thiago gets back, but I'd like to think Klopp can get it working with Fabs covering against the bus parking sides. After years of a workmanlike midfield it feels weird to be worried about our midfield being too creative and not athletic enough, but here we are.

I reckon our set up will change a bit, maybe he will take over on the right from Salah when time comes?

I think he's much more of a "Klopp midfielder" than Coutinho though. Many of us already forgot Lallana, but he was absolutely loved by Klopp and for a while essential – Harvey's function in the team is exactly like Lallana's, but I think he can potentially do it better.
