What a dish he’s serving up this season.

4 goals so far.

A goal every 58 mins.

We are talking about Jota stepping up when Afcon is on but is Minimino the secret weapon under our noses?

Even with his weak physicality he seems to have a great knack for popping up in the box and scoring.

Problem is, Takumi doesn't create chances for himself. He's very dependant on the players around him. So he's far from a like for like replacement for Mane or Salah.

As a stop gap I think he can do a job, we only need it for 4/5 games.

If we have all of Jota, Taki, Origi & Bobby for that period then I think we'll be fine without any injuries at full back or midfield. We will create enough chances and these four know our system well enough. Get Elliot at AM behind three of that four two and it could be quite nice.

Agree with you. Plus the other 3 being in the league cup against Norwich and Preston
I said something similar the last time someone made the same claim a few weeks ago. Salah is playing top opposition and mini scoring gainst D grade opposition (and a bummed arsenal side).

He does seem to have a very decent eye for goal. In Jan I'd be tempted to play the same 4-3 base, but instead of 3 across the attack, play Minamino behind Jota and Firmino.

Most assists in the league since the beginning of 18/19

TAA 38
KDB 34
Robbo 31
Mo 30
Son 27
I saw this stat today. It's amazing really. Commentators and studio guests alike cream themselves over KDB but Mo is almost his equal. I do realise though that Mo has likely played a number more games to reach that point.

With Origi being a goal a game player, and Taki being a goal every 58 minutes player, it's a guaranteed 2.5 goals per game. We really can't go wrong in January.

And Bobby scoring hat tricks every game.. we won’t even need Jotta.

Correct, that’s exactly how stats work. We have nothing to worry about. In fact we can just sell Salah and save a ton of money.

I don't mind Taki. He works hard and is a tidy finisher, with a decent goal per minute ratio.

It's unlikely he'll blossom into the player we hoped after watching him torment us in the CL, but for a £9m option he's absolutely fine.

I am surprised he hasn't bulked up, though. His lack of strength is a huge limitation to his game.

He seems to have a knack of getting chances to score in every game despite not standing out.

Even today he scored but it got ruled out for offside.

His running tonight was superb. He is quite clever at finding space and playing one touch. Around the goal, he is a poacher type, but when running through he takes too long to make a decision and gets muscled out easily. I don’t think he can bulk up, so needs to speed up his thinking to have more impact.

Encouraging tonight though.
