@BrightonFanbase: Joao Teixeira showed more intent and desire to win in his 25 minutes on the pitch than any other Albion did all game. #BHAFC

@BrightonFanbase: Very impressed with Teixeira. He is quick, has a good touch, and is very gifted technically. We lacked his urgency in the midfield all game.

@LewisEdwardsGB: One of the only positives from today's game was the impressive start that Teixeira made. #bhafc

Doesn't surprise, it was a shame we didn't get to see more of him last season but it was understandable why, don't really know why but i have a feeling with him that he is going to be a top class player.

Here are a few from their main forum...

He has genuine talent. Comfortably took opponents on and looked to create openings. From a neutral standpoint I would have questioned him coming to us. There were a couple of times he expected to see off the ball movement that didn't materialise, and one occasion when he looked at young Chicksen and raised his hands in exasperation when he didn't see him making an opening for a pass.

You can tell he's been training with the best players and coaches around

Heard him on the radio after the game, sounds like a really nice guy, level headed, enthusiastic and liked the story of how we got him "Sami called Steven Gerrard and asked what I was like, Stevie said yeah he's good and that was it". Or something like that. Looks like it was all Sami's doing though.

I seriously see him as very influential in our season if we can get 2/3 quality players in even if loaned then his talents will shine through. I'm sure he will revel in playing at the Amex with more space and time. Within minutes of coming on every Albion player were looking for him to pass to as he showed pace trickery and quality. An excellent signing

The kid does look like he could make space, beat players, pass the ball but unless we get some good players around him he will only be able to do so much.
Sami should ring liverpool and Stevie back see if that Suso or Adorjan fancy playing in our midfield. Find out about a striker or 2 as well

Came on, looked up whilst dribbling with pace, hit an inch perfect ball to O'Grady's feet and continued moving forward. The only problem was O'Grady knocked it about 20 yards forward as a controlled first touch.
Sums it up really.

Can Championship clubs still loan more than 2 players from the same club? I know Watford loaned a ton of guys a couple of seasons ago under Zola, and have the impression most of them came from some Italian club that their owner also owned.

If so, we should just loan Sami a few more of our U-21s like Dunn and McLaughlin.

when you think about it its probably beneficial to have 2 or 3 of our young players loaned out at the same club, not sure how much Suso will play if he stays this season, hes a genuine talent but we are very well stocked in his position, he would have to up his level considerably to force his way past Coutinho Lallana and Markovic in the managers plans

I reckon Suso will be kept around till Jan. If he isn't involved much on match days he'll probably go out on loan.

Suso needs games in a top division.
In fact I think he'd demand a transfer to a 1st division team in Spain if we told him to play lower down on loan.
And there'd be no shortage of takers, especially with not much left on his contract.

I was going to say the same thing. Suso doesn't need to drop down a division anywhere.

Good to hear that Teixeira did well though. A loan move was well overdue. Hopefully he has a great season and we can make a profit (what was it we paid - 1M?).

On a related note, Sami isn't doing so well. Brighton forums are rumbling with discontent over what has been seen as a rubbish pre-season and two losses from his first two league matches. Apparently, he got chants of "Hyypia you don't know what you're doing" in the loss to Birmingham. Some predicting he'll be gone by the end of the year.

I think Teixeira will be a big hit there. He's got a very good range of shots on him - he's a threat anywhere around the area - and has got a fine eye for a through ball. He'll prove pretty quickly he's too good for that level.

According to the quotes in the Opening Post he's done that already - in less than one half of football 😉
