Was hoping we'd have signed him to a new contract before sending him out, as there hasn't been any news on the offal about that (it was due to run out in June next year, according to transfermarkt).

Then saw this on a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/JoaoCarlos53Texeira) when I searched in Google for news on his contract status. Not sure if that is his official Facebook account though. That "May 23" datestamp is for this year (I can't get a screenshot with the mouse tooltip on without obscuring the status update). So, hopefully that's his official FB page and that new contract's sorted.
