I've been fairly consistent I think we need a CB and CM to be competitive for fourth. Without them we won't get close to it.
Yes we had a lot of first team players out but that happens and the squad should be able to cope especially against the likes of today's opposition.
Still think we could spend another £70m before the window closes hopefully it is enough and most importantly on the right players.
I think the defense and defensive midfield need probably two or three additions, you could do with another top attacker too. Young isn't good enough, the lad on the right wing is quick and creative but he's young and the end product isn't there yet, he could be brilliant though. Nani is gash and Valencia is good on his day but hit and miss.
Dont disagree with much of that. A starting CB and an additional backup CB. Neither of the two wing backs would be first choice when Shaw and Rafael come back.
Whether we need more creative players depends on who we sign as the additional CM. Someone like Vidal and we would probably be ok someone like Strootman and maybe yes. We will still have RVP to come back into the side which will help and I think Rooney, Mata and Herrera will be good enough going forward.
Its weird that Man U have lost almost all of their swagger, and thats aside from them being shite. The do have a relatively easy start and the extra time off will no doubt help them but to my eyes at least its bemusing that they havent signed a really top attacker and a few others further back. I suspect they fell into the trap of thinking that last season was a blip due to Moyes and that the squad really wasnt that bad....
A succesful pre-season may have added to that i suppose, even when they beat us for the first 50 minutes our superiority was just startling. After 20 odd years of them being top dog its a strange feeling to look at United and feel thoroughly unimpressed or intimidated by their squad. I dont honestly feel that they are good enough for top 4, LVG may get there heads right and they may play out their skins and sneak back in but its just weird to see a season kick off in the knowledge that United wont challenge.
