And feckin' funny!!! Didn't watch a second of it, but I'm really, really, REALLY enjoying the result.

One thing I am thankful for is that the data analysts, Hughes, Edwards etc were damn right about Amorim. As good as a manager he may be, he is so tied and insistent to his 3-4-2-1 formation, we'd have killed Klopp's team and got rid of everyone

It's a big risk. United right now have underperformed with an ill fitting system of play, and need to slash the team with only one game a week. The new small squad that they have can either work for most managers or just for amorim. If it works just for amorim and it doesn't actually produce results, the next manager will almost certainly not play the same system, because not that many managers do.

It was a shockingly stupid decision. Not just bringing him in, but not waiting till the summer.

I said the night that they scored 87 goals in 3 minutes Vs Lyon that I really hoped that their UEFA Cup run would mirror ours from 2017 (or whenever), and it did. It was almost identical...

The most ridiculous comeback in the 1/4 final when all seemed lost, followed by a very comfortable semi-final victory, only to utterly capitulate in the final, and therefore miss out on the financial windfall that European Cup qualification would have brought them, and setting themselves back years as a result.

Glorious stuff. 🙂

Didn’t we go on to win the CL 2 seasons later and the League the season after that?

That’s not the set back I had in mind for them.

Was waiting for somebody to say that - Do you really think this Salford are two years from winning the European Cup? I know you don't...

Two completely different circumstances - We were on the way up with a manager that had already begun to make us a force again. They're still spiraling downwards, not yet at rock-bottom. Also, we had nothing like their off the field problems to contend with.

3 seasons later. The following season we weren't in CL, the one after was Kyiv, so Madrid was 3 later

It's not comparable.
We were better, full stop.
And the Europa league as a tournament was better.
