Really ? Is is this givemefootball adding 1+1= 25 again.

Rafa Benitez is looking into the possibility of bringing Julio Baptista to cash strapped Liverpool. The Brazilian international is interested in a season long loan deal in this World Cup year, which would be ideal for the under fire Spaniard.

The Roma player has struggled to find form in Italy and the Serie A club would be pleased to get him off their wage bill.

That would certainly appeal to penniless Liverpool who have had a dreadful start to the season. With no money to spend Benitez is struggling to get any players in before Tuesdays deadline. Benitez sees the Brazilian who is eager to impress international manager Dunga, as a realistic possibility. He believes the Roma midfielder has the crudentials to fit right into Liverpool’s style of play. The powerful midfielder has an eye for goal who can play behind the striker or in a deeper more central role.

Rafa Benitez is unlikely to forget ‘the Beast’ after his time spent in England at Premier League rivals Arsenal. Baptista caught the Liverpool managers eye when he found the net 4 times in a memorable carling cup encounter at Anfield in 2007, ending 6-3 to the Gunners. If Baptista could re-create that majestical form it could well re-ignite Liverpool’s title bid and prove to be the bargain of the season.

The former Real Madrid midfielder has been linked with a move back to England since his loan deal with the Gunners ended. Rumours circulated that the Liverpool boss was preparing a bid for Baptista while he was still at Real, but was put off by his hefty price tag.

His agent had dismissed a return to England after he was linked with West Ham United and Portsmouth. However a move to Premier League giants Liverpool is a totally different proposition and could prove impossible to resist.

Well, we need *somebody*. Has Baptista shown any form at all since his Sevilla days though?

He had a decent spell at Real once they got stopped fucking him around in stupid positions... scored a great goal to win El Classico in his last season with them as well.

I've not seen anything of him at Roma, so I don't know if the desperation to get rid of him is more down to form or their supposed cash woes.

Was awful for Arsenal bar the odd burst into the box which mainly consisted of shoving everyone else out of the way. He was shocking for Roma against Arsenal in the Champions League as well. It would be risky, to say the least

Exactly the type of player Rafa likes.

I think it would be great, he never fulfilled his premiership potential.

He did score four goals against us in that fateful Carling cup game, I think he missed a pen as well

I'd take him, talented but wayward, definetly not the type of player to splash the cash on but on loan its a gamble worth taking

Well we need another striker most definitely..wouldn't be your first choice but worth a punt on loan

Exactly, and better than relying on Wash

Wasn't Luca Toni linked with West Ham on a loan deal? If so we should hijack that deal and with his height we'd at least have a plan B.

For me, he'd be best suited to Gerrard's role right now. Which isn't a bad thing considering we want Gerrard back in midfield right now.

Loan deals are deffo what we should be looking at if we're as skint as it seems. As for this guy, well,we need another body in attack, pure and simple, and he's got experience and talent. However I thought he's been pretty poor ever since he left sevilla (where he was great to be fair) hasn't he?

That game against us aside he never seemed to fancy it much in england either.

all that said, i'd be happy enough with this i suppose.

Sigh. I wish the club had some fucking money

You talk a lot of sense NOTH. It's obvious you're new here as the institutionalised posters haven't dragged you down to their level of hysteria😀

I thought he did alright for Roma to be honest. 9 goals in 27 games isn't half bad, when you think of the season they had last year.

I'd gladly take him on loan, we could surley get the best out of him. Good option.

can't be any worse than vermin and on loan a no brainer.

disappointed we've waited until so late to find a striker even if this is true and we are looking.

hmm

Syd?

Didn't the Arsenal fans hate him and rejoice when he was sacked off?

That cup game against us aside, I seem to remember his record was poor.

on loan would be good, but i wouldnt want us to buy him!
doubt it will happen though, we will probly just bring in a couple more kids and thats about it 🙁

To be fair i dont think he suited their style of play. He hardly played also..

Arsenal need quick - nippy players in the centre of the park or it would be quite easy to get bypassed completely. i think if a team actually gave him a chance he would be very good.. He clearly struggles with rotation and changing roles frequently so i doubt if we are the right team for him.
Would be nice as a back up for Torres though...

If we are completely strapped for cash surely his wages and a possible loan fee would cost around 3.5 - 4 million anyway??

Your own words "He clearly struggles with rotation" & "Would be nice as a back up" tell a story.

I'm sure he played 30 or so games for Arsenal and scored about 8 goals, 4 of which were in 1 game, against our 'starlets'. Not great.
