The Best #

This may be hard due to remembering all players who wore the #, or perhaps the wide array of sports we're not all keen on following ... but pick a number and the athlete who was the 'best' to wear it.

I'll start with a random # ...

99 - Wayne Gretzky ... Statistically, the best hockey player the game has ever known.

notable mention: Warren Sapp. One of the best DTs in the NFL for his career ... Great trash talker too, and rivaled Ray Lewis as the best defensive player of his generation. I would guess he's a 1st ballot hall of famer.

#23 - Errrrr.......

Besides MJ ...

LeBron James (who's phenomenal)
Don Mattingly (Yankees 1st Baseman)
Ryan Sandberg (Cubbies 2nd baseman, I think he's a HoFer now)
Bob Nystrom (Mr. Islander)

#32

Sandy Koufax (The best leftie ever ... Famous for sitting out a world series game to fast)
Steve Carlton (Another baseball HoFer)
Kevin McHale (With Bird & The Chief, was one of the essential cogs in one of the best teams ever)
Magic Johnson (Need we say more?)
Jim Brown (Some will say, the best RB ever)
Karl Malone (Mr. Consistency, and we're not talking about his 15 kids! 😉 On a more serious notes, one of the best PFs in history)
Ricky Watters (One of the better RBs of his generation ...)
