Let's give it up for our defence. They've been killing it so far this season.

Last season was all about the front three. This season they've underwhelmed but we've been able to absorb that because the other parts of the team have stepped it up.

Huge test coming up against PSG, will be interesting to see we do.

Want to comment on Gomez – today was the first game this season where he's made some serious mistakes, totally misjudging the diagonal ball like he's known to do and also letting Lucas steal a ball off him for a 1 on 1 chance. But the way he responded after these mistakes I thought was brilliant – didn't hide, made a few great challenges and passed the ball with assurance. In this sense I would say he's passed an important test of his mettle.

Id play a full reserve team legit.
Give the lads a rest. We will win 4 games of 6 in the group regardless

Yep its like night and day the difference between the defence now and this time last year. VVD is obviously the focal point because he just makes it look so easy. TAA is still a slight concern. I think once we get Fabinho settled into the system and up to the required speed the defence is going to get even more solid.

VvD has a huge impact. He is so full of confidence, calm, wins everything in the air and passes so well.
The rest of the defenders have been great so far with Gomez being a revelation.

It's a lovely bonus that Gomez has pace, overall great season for him so far.

I Didn't really like Virgils attempt at blocking their goal today but I guess he was scared of a hand ball. Aside from that he's leading the defence and the improvement is mostly on him.

Allison did exactly what he needed to today, solid, no drama.

Don't need to mention Robertson, Trent has had a sloppy start to the season but looked good today.

The more I focus my attention on him the more I put most of the reason for our brilliance in VVD.

Amazing

The ref gave everything as hand ball all game so I could understand his hesitation there

I think we should remember that we just contained Spurs away from home to a handful of chances and they are one of the best possession based attacking teams in Europe...

Yeah...

Their goal really flattered them IMO... it is a shame because the numbers don’t actually point out that we bossed that game, front and back.

The fact that they don't is itself a concern though. We should have been three or four up before they scored and we'll need to turn more of those chances into goals.

Good overall performance but we still need to improve.
