Seriously, the man deserves a nickname like Fowler, Kenny or Salah. It took until this season for most of us to finally recognize it, but he's been probably Klopp's most important signing, someone who stayed somewhat under the radar while growing into one of the very best attacking players in the world. I've never seen a player quite like him and not sure when I'll see another one; I think he more than anyone else defines the shape and style of this team and his absences, as infrequent as they are, are the most acutely felt. I would love if he stayed on until the end of his career.

This is the original signing thread... a lot of the posts definitely didn't age well:

I can understand people baulking at the £30 million price tag. It was a lot of money for a player back then. We saw Sanchez move to Arsenal for just about that fee and we're paying the same for a guy from Southampton?
Also, worth mentioning that we just signed Lallana from them for a large fee and he didn't impress that much.
Most of us just wanted a marquee signing at that time.
Personally I didn't know much about Mané except that I "hated" him for destroying us when we played them.

Wonder who will be the next Sadio, i.e. moving from a smaller club to a larger club and creating such a big impact.

30 mill £ seemed so much even just 4 years ago, and now its a quite common fee. So weird to see.
Glad I was in the trust Klopp he knows what he's doing corner.

Sadio on the signing day. That wall looks different now...

34 million seemed like a huge fees at the time. I think most thought he was a good player, but very few could have predicted that he'd transform into one of the best attackers on the planet. Testament to his drive as well. Absolutely brilliant player.

He hasnt looked back after he scored that insane goal at the Emirates in his first game. What a player he has become. Defenders just cant figure him out. Love his attitude aswell.

It was the most excited I've been about a signing in years because he was the best opposition player we'd faced whenever I watched him.

Was wondering why I only posted a couple of times in that topic and just saw the dates. I was at Glastonbury off my tits. Mad that I commented at all.

The thing that impressed me most during his first season (well, apart from his pace and skill) was his leadership. It was striking how soon after he signed that he'd be pointing at teammates, talking to them, urging them on, often ordering them about. That aspect seemed to fade a bit for a while but came back with a vengeance last season. His strop on the bench early on set the tone, really - he wanted everyone at the top of the game with exactly the right attitude.

I think I was always in favour of the signing, but I didn't have any special insight or anything. I just love players with that kind of blistering pace.

I remember the goal he scored against Arsenal when he just blitzed past their defence and lobbed the keeper, and I was like 'wow'. Really made me sit up and take notice.

I usually loathe players who record themselves during celebrations, but this moment was a gem from our Sadio before our trophy lift.

Also love our left wing pairing of him and Robbo because their both constantly winding up opponents on all spectrum. The CWC final post match where our Andy is giving a proper bollocking to the opposing player even after we've rightfully won is the protection Sadio deserves.

I did not think he'd hit the heights he has but we were crying out for pace and goal threat and Mane ticked those boxes. I think most people were just fed up of dealing with Southampton, but everybody sat up after that goal against Arsenal. It reminded me Torres first goal in that it felt for the first time in ages that we hadn't had a player capable of scoring a goal like that for ages.

So glad we got him when we did and ahead of United. He's world class.

He’s on track to be my favourite player ever which is incredible considering the players we’ve had.

I absolutely love his attitude.

I can't believe that some clown said that he was going to be that season's Benteke.

I was thinking Black Mamba, but Sadio doesn't really have that Mamba mentality he's too nice.
Cheetah, sound too much like cheater.
Black Panther, again with the "black" and it's silly.
King, nah...that's taken.

yeah, I dunno.
