Thoughts?

1. Firstly, Lucas' win is a shock as it is generally perceived that Firmino, Coutinho or Can were better performers but they were patchy. Mr Consistent has nicked the title.

2. The top 10 places were separated by only 13 points. I think this suggests that now Suarez and Sterling have left, we can hope that all-round team performances may be the norm. Certainly under Klopp we can expect better and more consistent performances...fewer standout players, like Luis.

3. Signings from the Rodgers/committee era - Firmino, Lallana and Can have all done well.
.
4. The much maligned keeper didn't have as bad a season as we think. 20 clean sheets, but certainly at fault on occasion. I do feel though that he will drop to the bench or leave.

5. Coutinho was average. So was Hendo, but perhaps the injury was the cause of that. Joe Allen was much better this year.

6. Defenders: Sakho and Lovren were the best two. However, look at the table and see how consistent Clyne has been - 7 2nd places and 7 3rd places. without winning a MOM award he showed a good level for us; sadly not matched by Moreno (who did win a MOM award!)

7. Kids: Ings will be like a new signing, as will Gomez. I am excited by Ojo, Stewart and Brannagan. Ward is also one to watch for 2018.

At this time, I don't know whether I will continue with this another season or not. I say to my wife each year that this will be my last but I carry on.

Maybe a lot of them happen to know what a defensive mid is. What his job on the pitch is. I know what his job on the pitch is. Make tackles, short easy quick passes and act as the shield for the back four.

Maybe a lot of us Liverpool fans just happen that we love when a player always put the team first. Lucas do that in every game. He is our best captain by some distance.

And Lucas is shit. Proper shit. I can't wait for him to be fucked off. That list of winners has shown how shit we have become, Alonso, Mascherano, Gerrard, Carragher and Suarez. Even Fernando Torres didn't even make that list and he was phenomenal for 2 seasons.

Milner was my player of the year, followed by Clyne. The rest were shit more often then not.

I can agree that it's a bit strange to see Lucas winning the player of the season, but here's a few thoughts:

Lucas was given the Player of the Year award by the Liverpool FC Former Players Association.

This season was every bit as average as the seasons when the likes of Suarez and Coutinho won, so that's a crappy explanation.

Milner, Clyne or Coutinho would have been my choices for player of the season.

There's something to it when 6 other forums are included. However, I think the result tells us that Lucas was our most consistent performer but I'd still argue that Clyne was just as consistent.
