The Title Race 25/26

Arsenal will literally be top from now until the end of the season. If people were moaning about last season being boring, this year will be another level. At least we played decent footy for much of last year. Arsenal will win the league by virtue of lumping in a load of corners and playing 6 centre backs every game.

We need to keep winning until Arsenal wobble, and that wobble needs to be before Jan.

We then need to win at the Emirates.

Do these things, and anything can happen in the run in. But we have an uphill battle until that game. We then have to strengthen in Jan, and find a system without Mo.

I think they only way they'll have a wobble is to have a couple of draws. They're too good defensively to concede a load of goals and drop a significant number of points. I could maybe see the goals drying up if people learn to fucking defend corners. But teams don't even have shots against them, nevermind score a few goals. Can't see it.

Arsenal are still Arsenal. They're not winning shit

They're walking the league this year. Maybe even the Champions League. If teams can just remember to mark and clear the ball when it gets lumped into their box then they might drop points, but that seems an utterly alien notion at the moment.

I don't think Arsenal will walk it, despite having them down as favourites. I think they're mentally ready to do so after finishing second for many years, and they've covered the gaps in the attack which hindered them so drastically last year, with Saka and Odegaard's injuries. They're ability to see out a clean sheet so regularly and nod in a corner is boring, but very effective. Hopefully, if we buck up our ideas, we can throw some spanners into the works. Haaland's form means City won't be far off either.

I remember peak Arsenal under Wenger, they played great football, scored loads of goals, had exciting players. Their fans used to scream "Hooooofff!" every time an opponent cleared their lines, like they were the guardians of all that was good in the game.
Now look at the God-awful shite they cheer on every week. What changed? Failure. Going so long without a title they'll support anything that gets them there, but the second it breaks down they'll turn. They're only 2 or 3 poor results from a melt-down. That's what it'll take. A bad spell. A couple of key injuries, no effective plan B and the fans will turn. I just hope to God that it happens, and soon.

As long as saliba and gabriel stay fit, they won’t concede enough to drop 7 points.

Our hope is that their hubris gets the better of them

Or people work out how to fucking stop them scoring from corners.
I thought it was interesting watching our game on that score yesterday. We were much more aggressive defending set pieces, like the penny had dropped that the opposition were getting away with physical stuff that ought to be given as a foul, so give it back. I think that's the way to stop Arsenal from corners and free kicks. Get your retaliation in first. Aside from anything else, if you engage the opposition in a bit of fisticuffs before the ball is kicked, it usually ends up in the ref blowing up for a foul and nullifies the threat.

If they don't drop another 7 points they'll end up on at least 103 points. Probably not going to happen.

The same thing happened last season. They scored loads of set pieces early on and once they got nullified they drew loads. My only hope is the same happens.
