The Undertaker.

Looks like Mark has hung up the spandex.

Grew up idolising him. The name of all names. I think his sit up is the most iconic thing in WWE history. I know its silly and its not real, but watching Molly get into it this past few years has really taken me back to when I thought these guys were super human.

27 years in the WWE 35 years a pro wrestler. Goes out at the main event in the biggest show on the calendar.

Cant fuck with the dead man. Never could do.

Yep, he's gone on a ridiculously long time. Not watched wrestling since I was a kid but was always gobsmacked to hear he was still going.

Brilliant career.

He was a fairly athletic wrestler for his size in the first half of his career. That he managed to sustain that aura and interest even though his athleticism declined is a testament to how good he was overall.

I always found it funny that even long after he dropped the undertaker outfit and gimmick , there was just no changing the name. Iconic.

I always loved his matches with Mankind.

Like shawn micheals his biggest gift was Making every opponent in every match look good. Big guy, small guy, didnt Matter. In all kind of matches he put on a show.

And I know ive mentioned this before but ive heard from a few different sources that he would put anyone over for the good of the company. Clean wins 1,2,3 NO ONE does that. 99% of superstars refuse and will only accept on a tko like a time out or DQ. Mark would just say lets do this and put over whomever was on the write up regardless of how it made him look.

The rock talked at length about it in his Autobiography. To name but one.

Great fucking article that.
What a genuine legend. Im saddened because unlike your Rocks, Foleys, Stone Colds, Ric Flairs I dont think the man behind the persona has any interest in staying around and hyping up the company. He'll be off riding Harleys round his farm.

Its really the end of an era. He was the last wrestler left from my Childhood after Sting retired.

He does a podcast as well - well worth a listen

Off on a tangent...................a friend of mine is the social media/marketing manager for The Walkabout bar in Manchester. She's always very busy on big sports days. On Saturday morning I met her and suggested that she probably wouldn't be too busy at the weekend as there were no "major" sports events. She told me that Wrestlemania was a huge event for them, the pub is packed and many punters come dressed up as their favourite WWE characters! Fucking saddos.

Christ I remember his debut! Survivor Series. He was Ted Dibiase's mystery 4th choice. Fuck me he was a monster. Knacked everyone and just bossed out of there. I liked him lots but my favourite was always Roddy Piper.

Thats kind of always been the point of the Undertaker though.

Well, yeah. But I don't think it really served any purpose. If anything, the marks hate Reigns even more, and he didn't really need to go over given he's getting a monster push as it is. The kids and the women will love him regardless.

I don't watch it anymore, have only really watched it off and on since HBK's first retirement. But I think it's mad how a) the fans who hate Reigns still stick around despite them doing this exact same shit years ago with Cena, b) the WWE keep trolling them and don't give a fuck.

Meh.

The wrestlers are probably more talented now, but the gimmicks and the interest and the entertainment is nowhere near the level it was fifteen plus years ago.

He and Sting were always my faves...

Took Andie to a RAW last year, and she fucking loved it. They really do a great job with their fans... There was hunderds of special needs kids there too, whom the wrestlers always made their way over to, to make a fuss of them. Those kids were so made up, it almost made me cry.

It's nonsense but it's fun and he was a great. Can't believe he's 10 years my senior and can do those things. I struggle to get out of bed some mornings!

Reigns is getting boo'ed to absolute fuck, which is a reaction and that's what they want. They'd be worried if Reigns got zero reaction (which is what the marks would do if they were smart). Those 15 minutes on the Raw after Wrestlemania were the loudest the crowd have been in ages. He didn't need the push but you can't have Undertaker's last match be against some nobody either. The match was a bit one-sided though. Thought the last few minutes were a bit shit.

Raw in particular has ridiculous talent, but you're right it's not nearly as entertaining as it used to be.

When you take everything into account (ability, gimmick, promos, money drawn, connection with fans, longevity, etc.) he is definitely one of the greatest of all time.
