Next time there's a lot of buzz around a black or Welsh 17-18 year old winger in the championship, can we please go out and buy him before Tottenham and Arsenal get their hands on him?
* Walcott
* Lennon
* Bale
* Chamberlain

Such as Raheem Sterling?

Didn't play in the championship or League one.

Didn't play League one? Perhaps correct. And although younger (more like Walcott's age when he moved), it seems like he may have an opportunity to make an impact in a similar timeframe as Bale, Chamberlain. It took Bale 3 years to have any real impact didn't it?

3 lads from the list also graduated from the Southampton academy.
Think FreshRed's point is about giving young players chances. Say Chamberlain. Even if we had signed him, he'd probably be featuring on the subs bench instead of given starts.

Cheers, Binny.
That was part of the point. But, I think we sometimes still have our minds in Rafa's era. I think Kenny has done reasonably well with giving younger players a go. Certainly last year with Robinson and Shelvey. And, even this year, his faith in Henderson will reap rewards....eventually. I would like to see Shelvey given more opportunities, but I think that time will come. And would be nice to see one of the younger forwards or wingers given a go.
