Tommy Walsh leaves Kerry for AFL

Big news this.

He's signed a 2 year deal with St. Kilda. We're not talking about a promising youngster, a gifted U-21 year old, or a future 'starlet' here, Walsh is a fucking star of Gaelic Football, and in the top 6 forwards in the game currently. The fact that he's been lured away from that for a measly 50K a year in Australia is stunning.

50k a year?? Jesus I would have thought he'd get more than that!!

Surprised to see no thread on Donal Og O' Cusack's coming out..

I'm aghast at this benight decision, it will have far reaching ramifications and we should not stand for it. Let us rise up in unison and in one voice declare that Tommy Walsh is ours, a national treasure, a hero to young and old and the man who will lead us to a brighter tomorrow.

*Googles Tommy Walsh*

I liked him best when he was on Ground Force with Alan Titchmarsh...

Hahaha- that's exactly who I thought of when I saw the thread.

Not really he was here last xmas and loved it and the 50k a year is what almost all rookies start on.

If he makes the grade his salary will jump massively.

And he barely gets 5k at home now for playing so getting 50k to live in a city with a strong Irish connection is not the worst thing in the world.

I really hope it makes it.

Tadhg Kenneally has admitted in his book that he took Nicholas Murphy out!!!Donal og is heartbroken

Which brings me nicely on to :Kenneally will prob head back down under too..would be 2 huge losses for the Kingdom

It's $50,000, but his accomodationa and a lot of expenses are also paid for, that's just basically his spending money.

Fair play to him for going what is there to keep him in Ireland if it works out for him good luck, if it doesn't he'll always have the gaa to fall back on and will have seen a bit of the world during his travels.
