Top 100 Premier League Players of All Time

It was revealed during the course of the week. I stopped reading once Nani was revealed and that that was on day one.

If I could choose any one of those players in their prime to slot into our current side, it would be Suarez.
U was thinking about this the other day, & whilst I agree he'd be fucking incredible in this side, it got me thinking about where you'd play him (he's obv not going to return, he's the antithesis of an FSG signing, but hypothetically) & it's not that easy to slot him into the side.

I decided swapping for Firmino would make the most sense for obvious reasons, but I'm not sure he'd replace everything he does, although he'd definitely improve the direct attacking by some margin.

Fuck, can you imagine a defence trying to deal with Mane, Suarez & Salah running at them? *salivates*

I’d drop a prime Suarez for Firmino in a heartbeat. I think only a madman would put it up for debate. Firmino has always been a Suarez-lite.

They probably discussed it over 16 pints of Stella in Wetherspoons.

Ronaldo number one? He’s probably the best player who happened to have played in the premier league at some point. Better than shearer? Henry? No chance.

How did speed get in the list? Was it a sympathy selection?

I love Firmino but I’d drop him for the current Suarez. Less work rate nowadays but he’s still a genius.

The one thing Suárez never lacked was wrokrate and effort. Maybe my memory’s playing tricks on me but I think Suárez dispossessed defenders back in the day just as much as Firmino does today. Defenders used to be petrified passing the ball at the back because Suarez not only pressed them but also would suddenly faint and change his direction to intercept passes others would never get to. I think a young Suarez would have adapted to Klopp’s pressing style straight away.

Henry is number one.

Not sure about the order, but my top 10 would probably be:
Henry
Ronaldo
Shearer
Giggs
Gerrard
Lampard
Bergkamp
Viera
Keane
Aguero

Terry
Vieira
Scholes
Aguero
Shearer
Lampard
Gerrard
Rooney
Giggs
Henry

That's mine. Probably in descending order too.

I tried to read but that site gave my phone aids and tried to make me watch an advert involving Harry Redknapp

Now do one with defenders and keepers. 😀

Yeah, I know - strange not to have anyone, but arguably in the PL era there has been no one quite on the level of Maldini or Buffon. Cech or De Gea for goalkeepers; Terry, Vidic or Rio for CBs - all good, but not exactly legendary. Terry probably deserves to be in top 10, but I opted for Bergkamp, because (in Marie Kondo voice) he sparks joy. Terry does not spark joy.

I'd consider Terry and Ferdinand two of the best defenders in the world in my lifetime. They were great. The cunts.

I might have been a bit too young to fully appreciate (not sure that's the right word) them, but I've always found that the likes of Bergkamp, Zola and Cantona were wildly overrated. Less so Bergkamp, but definitely the other two.

They failed in higher quality leagues, came here and tore it up at times against a bunch of cloggers, benefiting from the fact that there weren't too many foreigners or technical players about.

Unpopular opinion probably. I'm going to watch some videos of them now and see. But for me, there have been much better players, and a lot more of them, playing in the Premier League for the last 15 years.

Schmeichel though?

That may be true but it is the PL’s best players.

All those Utd and Chelsea players that picked up loads of trophies will unfortunately stick in people’s minds more. E.g. Carrick vs Alonso.

No contest in terms of who the better player is IMO but Carrick had greater longevity in the league and picked up a load of winners medals.

Depends how you define greatness in that list. If you're talking individual talent, then Gerrard is top 5 easy. If you're talking success and longevity, then Phil Neville should make the list.

It's a team game afterall. Had Gerrard been in better sides and won a couple of titles, you could argue he was the best ever - still same level of ability.

Either way, that list is a horror show.

Schmeichel
Keane
Irwin
Cantona
Giggs
Scholes
Beckham
Ronaldo
Solskjaer
Ferdinand

Dreamy's top ten.
