Trent, Salah and VVD

I wish him well in his life, he played a big part in everything we've won during his career with us, and for that I'm grateful. Part of me wants to see him struggle there defensively, part of me wants to see a manager finally take the shackles off him, but either way I'll feel bitter and let down that he was one of us and he's chosen to try to be a Galatico at a club where he will never be loved the same. He's given up all of that adoration to try to win someone else over and in the process he's tainted his legacy.

Let's be honest though, for how prodigal he can be, his career has been dogged by the whole conundrum of whether he was in the right position. Which means he'll never truly be considered as legendary anyway, because he was a talented but seriously flawed player.

Yeah I think this could have a Coutinho level effect of Rebalancing the team to our benefit, obv without having 140mil to spend on that. I have the feeling that the Slot system doesn't really tolerate the mercurial players, and they'll also leave unless they work so well at the other parts (Macca, Salah)

And in terms of him leaving, he's won everything he could win with us, left us having just won the league again, and in his shoes maybe I'd leave to try something new too

He's a generational talent and a scouser to boot. There was a time I wanted us to figure out how we can utilise his abundant abilities and cover his frailties. Klopp didn't manage to do it, nor has Slot. Now it's either he hasn't the mentality or physicality or both to do what we need. So it was time for us to part ways.

That's why Bradley fits us so much better. Effort. That's the minimum standard I have. Bradley may not have the passing range but he has the drive, tenacity and also penetrating runs.

He's also not a rat.

I think Slots system and his use of full backs can be better with Bradley. It’s the passing and chance creation we have to replace through midfield.

Let’s be honest about Trent. Real aren’t playing him in midfield. Only way that happens is if Xabi plays 3-4-3 and Trent is the right sided midfielder. No way will he be a central midfielder.

Whether we learn to forgive when there's contrition, combined by failure. He also told us what we wanted to hear (that he was promised signings by the owners and they never came). Torres never was as good for anyone else as he was for us.

Torres also didn't do this celebration at the height of the rumours

He's a prick tease and making out it's the hardest decision in the world. He's gaslighting his way out the club and he'll get cheered for it.

He just can't be arsed being part of a rebuild and is going to get a fat load of cash in the process

Gaslighting indeed.

Arf. You got me doubting myself so I googled it, and yes, we did. The previous season Keegan had negotiated a release clause of £500,000 (a British record, and double the German record, at the time) and Hamburg triggered it.
I actually went to a Kevin Keegan event a couple of weeks back and he said that Liverpool informed him that they had turned down a bid for Real. Keegan said that he would have went if it had been accepted. Liverpool told him if he stayed for one more season then they would let him leave for whoever matched their valuation. Only Hamburg made a bid

It's so weird for adults to choose hatred and ill will over indifference. Unless you enjoy being upset, I guess.

Same here. But what triggers me, or I am betting, for most people, is the hypocrisy between "I am a scouser living the dream" and wanting to move to Madrid. You can't ride the "local boy playing for the club" wave and then do this.

TAA gave me some genuinely breathtaking moments, but he was paid and well cared for. I would paint over the mural. That is not being petty or angry. Murals are for players with a deeper connection. We didn't make it transactional; he did.

Torres broke the LFC fans in terms of player adoration. So when Suarez and Coutinho left, most of us shrugged and moved on. TAA, to me, is the next step in that process—a local lad leaving the club. It will have a long-term impact—a generation of LFC fans will warn their kids not to get too attached to anyone. It would affect when they return and ride the LFC legends circuit to try to be relevant.

First, they're going to paint over the mural, or some dumb cunt will take matters into their own hand.

Second, when you were 20 years old, you never made an emotional absolutist statement that you later became slightly more realistic and even disillusioned about? Wow.

Spot on.

I feel like what Gerrard did when he committed to the club was also repairing the damage players like Owen and Macca did by leaving. LFC should never be regarded as a stepping stone.

However, Torres, Coutinho, Suarez and Mascherano where active during a time when it felt like the club didn't match other EPL clubs in terms of ambition (financially). In hindsight it's a bit sad that they all left without winning anything significant. So in a weird way they kinda had my blessing to leave, because they wanted to (quoting myself here) "win shit" and they did.

It's not, I'm just stating that it's obvious. However, as I don't see us getting anywhere despite him staying, what's the point? Let him leave and win shit.

English isn't exactly my mother tongue.
Is that like modo hoping he gets the shoe?
For context:

gazma

I didn't. I was definitely more idealistic when I was 20. Do I live on the same principles and ideals I had then? Nope. Did I make statements that I disagree with now, of course, i did.

However, I did not make any statements that involved hurting others. I had enough self-awareness not to leverage other people's emotions or use others for my own personal gain. Also, if I did, I did not expect or do not expect to be let off because I was just 20.

TAA was 20, not 12.

I see a few people jumping on the "Bradley's better than Trent" bandwagon. Are they the same as the "Ibe is better than Sterling" crowd?
He's better defensively that's for certain. But obviously on the ball trent is miles better. But as good as trent is on the ball he has always left us horribly exposed at the back. Plus his lack of energy tracking back used to wind me up.

Oh please. You think when he said that he was willfully leveraging people's emotions, rather than just saying how he felt on a fucking incredible high after he rocketed up from obscurity into the very height of club football in the blink of an eye?
