Trent, Salah and VVD

Mickey Owen won plenty with RM, no? He didn’t need a “last chance at Glory”. I’m sorry but budding liverpool legends can’t be signing for United. That’s where he lost most people.

I don't think Owen won anything at Madrid.

I know most people care, but I don't. For me, expecting him to not go to Utd and instead finish his career at some relegation-threatened shithole, was just totally unrealistic. He was always going to go there.

It’ll likely be Xabi taking over at Madrid and that would likely have interest / a connection for Trent…not least because of the key role a much improved Frimpong has played for Bayer under Xabi.

The problem is, Xabi is the most short-pass oriented manager in the world, he literally forbids his players to play Hollywood balls… If he works with Trent, one of them will have to adapt.

I genuinely don’t know. Trent without long passing is just a giant liability and Xabi will be under pressure to make their new signing work. I think he will need to adapt his tactics to some extent.

A Madrid and Spain legend under pressure to make TAA work? Come on. Mbappe maybe, but not Trent.

Good. The earlier he pisses off the better.

I can't stand his stupid smug face anymore.

May he rot on their bench with plenty of splinters in his arse.

The thing about this thread is that everybody's right, to some extent...

Of course footballers don't owe anybody anything as their contract winds down (legally, at least), and of course they can do anything they want (legally, at least), and of course they gave lots to their clubs, and in this example, played a BIG role in lots of glory and success. That's all fair. But the club has also played a BIG part in making them what they are today, and of course we as fans expect them to want to stay here (especially when you're local and we're at the top of the tree again), and of course we're allowed to hope for (not expect, but hope for) more than it looks like we're getting in this scenario... Everybody's correct.

It all depends on what angle you're coming from... It may be harsh to some of you and weak to others, but I neither love nor loathe TAA at this point. He's doing nothing "wrong", but he's also diminishing what I thought of him by doing this. I am glad he's been here for most of the past dozen years or so, but once he's gone, I'll not miss him nor hold him in particularly high esteem as a legend of the club - For that, I'd expect more that just doing nothing "wrong".

He's not a rat or a traitor. But nor is he the god he could have become... He's now just a really talented player who's played for us, has done really well for the most part, but had some serious flaws in his makeup, showed the world that his head had been turn for his final 2 years here, and then buggered off to the biggest draw in world football (unless you really are a Liverpool fanatic, that is).

Thing is, all we've heard is that he IS a Liverpool fanatic. And THAT's why I'm so disappointed... Yes, he can go wherever he wants to. But, if he really, truly is a Liverpool fanatic, living his dream, why would he want to?!?!?!?

And he clearly wants to. So, off he'll go, with a bagful of honours, and he'll probably win many more over there...

But he'll no longer be adored like he could have been. And THAT is the sad thing for me.

Thanks for everything. Hope you and your family live long and happy lives.

But that's all.

See ya.

Anyone who joins Real after what they did to Salah and us, who is homegrown local lad is 100% a rat and a traitor.

He can fuck off.

Hes stagnated here, and I think he's stagnated in terms of loving the game. It makes some sense, he's like a child star, it all came early and he won everything.

I think that's why he wanted to change positions, I think it's also why he wanted to change clubs.

I don't know why he'd want, in that context, to play on this team, if all the other romance wasn't involved. This isn't a team that's going to reignite your love of football.

I think he’s a bit off. It’s gone to his head. He’s not as good as he thinks he is. It feels like Glen Hoddle. Loved for his passing by the press but overrated?

I forgot about Ramos doing a WWF on Salah and Karius in the final. They beat us twice. Euro Rivals. Yeah not mad about it

There’s a few vids of him acting a big man to Salah and think he doesn’t appreciate it. Total meh about Trent leaving now. Still as a footballer, amazing talent then and now. I think soon As Klopp resigned, he was ready for a fresh change…

Things he does and has done from that position for us can never be taken away and was lovely to see him and Robbo on bench other day laughing and cracking private joke.
Will probably how I will remember an era defined by flying full backs, they redefined the game for me at that period.
