Well there are still 5 weeks to go to the end of the transfer season but what I'm loving is the wind slowing deflating from all those United fans thinking that a lack of CL football and 7th last year won't affect their pulling power.
Top players, one after another, are either ruling themselves out of any move, or of a move to United specifically in favour of another team. I'm sure they'll get a couple of top players somewhere along the line but I can also see them buying a few, not so famous, they didn't dream they'd ever be in for too.

LVG has already stated he doesn't have enough in defense. Fairly confident that won't be the starting back 3 at the start of the season.
Vermaelen is the one I see being linked the most, but there hasn't been much else.

Over all of the Ferguson years how many top players had he signed outside of those playing in the PL? Not that many really. Bar a few exceptions nearly all our big money signings have come from the PL.
Also this year journalists have absolutely no idea who the club are going for. We have been linked with almost every player, including the entire Dutch team, this summer.
So while undoubtedly players have rejected us this summer, not everyone we are linked to in the media who goes elsewhere has rejected us. Some we possibly weren't in for in the first place.

Off the top of my head we have also been linked with de Vrij, Benatia and Hummels. Some of those are extremely unlikely but I would be shocked if LVG plans to play 3 at the back and only goes into the season with 3 available.

The other night we sort of played 3-4-1-2 which really does get the best out of RVP, Rooney and Mata.

Can't see Benatia or Hummels happening, but De Vrij is one I missed. He could be a very clever purchase, but had some very strong links to some Italian clubs recently.

Yeah those two do look like long shorts only way I can see us having any chance of getting Hummels is if we used Kagawa as a bargaining chip. Klopp loves him and LVG already says he has too many 10's
Feyenoord are actively trying to sell De Vrij. They were trying last summer as well. They have offers from Roma and Lazio but they are too low. He had the best defender stats at the World Cup somehow so now is the time to sell for them. I don't think he is anything special at all myself.
