Upcoming fixtures and squad rotation

So...two week international break right now, followed by five games in two weeks.
Three day gap between most of the games too.

Upcoming fixtures:

14 Sep
PL - Burnley (A)

17 Sep
CL - Atlético Madrid (H)

20 Sep
PL - Everton (H)

23/24 Sep
LC - Southampton (H)

27 Sep
PL - Palace (A)

Any thoughts on rotation?

Slot obviously has to play our second XI against Southampton.

I can see Isak playing against Southampton to get his match fitness up.

Obviously big changes for the League cup game - be looking for starts from Marma, Leoni, Robbo, Endo, Nyoni, Rio & Cheesie, which would leave JoGo, whoever we want minutes at RB and one of the midfielders (maybe some extra minutes for Mac if he still needs them).

Slot will be pragmatic, whoever needs the minutes either if they’re short of match fitness or form alongside those regularly coming off the bench for minutes here and there.

The rest, I’d keep rotation to a minimum - because we’re trying to get them up to speed playing with each other (ooh-err missus).

We’d want to get Bradley playing and we can shuffle the midfield a little with Dom, Mac & CJ.

Maybe Robbo gets more time.

Really depends on fitness.

Also - not sure of the rules for League Cup - can the likes of Calvin Ramsay play - wouldn’t be against involving Koumas, Nallo or Chambers if they’re still around

One game at a time.

We don't even know who's going to be left standing after the break, nevermind 5 games away.

Guehi has a back injury scheduled for that week too

My only real thought is we could do with getting Leoni some game time ASAP. We could easily need him now given that Guehi didn't sign. If we're comfortable in the Burnley game then maybe he should be coming on to play alongside Van Dijk.

Koumas is on loan at Birmingham CIty.
Nallo was injured in the U21's season opener; hasn't played since (2 games).
Chambers is still at the club but hasn't been playing for the U21s. Maybe still injured (back, since last season).

Bajcetic might play
Is he back in training yet? Even if so, I think he'd be sent to play a game with the U21s first to test his match fitness / readiness. Nyoni is more likely to get minutes (maybe even start) versus Southampton.

They'll definitely have some behind closed doors friendlies

0 chance; it’s a televised Sky game. TBH I think it’s better on the Sunday as it’s an extra day for everyone to be back after the internationals

It's less good for my personal logistics though as it's my last day before relocating across the country.

Means a pint free viewing experience since I'll need to spend the rest of the day going around the city in a 26' moving truck collecting all my shit for a 2500km drive.

Oh well, whatever is best for our results.

He came back to training in the first week or two of August.

I think we'll see some healthy rotating between Gakpo, Isak and Ekitike in all the non-Southampton games. Same with Szobo, Macca and Gravy.

As long as we do a great full rotate for Saints I think we'll be fine at this stage of the season playing key players in the majority of these to ensure we find a rhythm.

Key people to get minutes against Southampton for me are Rio, Chiesa, Endo, Leoni.

Hopefully Isak gets some training for the national team, and maybe a few minutes.
He’ll be given a mini pre season when he returns but can we expect an appearance of the bench against Everton maybe?

The good news is that most of our players will be back on Tuesday next week.
The South Americans....thursday as usual. So count on Macca being on the bench.
Maybe Ali too. Both playing at high altitude and will be knackered.

Have you finished your gig in the Northernest of towns on earth?
