Listen to audio from match officials, including the VAR, as Virgil van Dijk is shown a red card for his foul on Alexander Isak in Liverpool's Premier League fixture at Newcastle. PGMOL chief Howard Webb confirming it was the correct decision

Unfortunately I don't live in the UK so I can't see the vids.
If I find a way to bypass it I'll let you know.

Nothing very interesting to be honest, all the communication is quite frantic. Some people disagree but it’s definitely a red for me and that’s probably why they’re happy enough releasing the audio.

You could hear what the ref is saying to Virgil but it was cut off just before the possibility of hearing Virgil saying what he did.

I’d be interested in hearing more of the ref and how they interact with the players.

Thanks, I'm more interested in the City offside decision and the Wolves Man U one.

They should be on the website.

ah ok, just watched it. The word subjective was used in their discussion which imo should automatically mean the on field referee needs another look at a replay. They strangely seemed to ultimately focus on whether the keeper had a clear view rather than Akanjis distracting movements which caused the keeper to hesitate.

I’m not sure what can be done to improve this unless one of them can just grow a set and say they think it might be wrong, you need to take another look.

So they’ve not given the pen because Dawson was the one who headed the ball and not the player Onana fouled?

Are they making up the rules aa they go?

Yeah I don't get that logic. Surely it's an off the ball foul

Worth noting at the point of the foul, Onana hasn’t a clue which of the 2 is about to head the ball and probably doesn’t even see Dawson until after.

It’s a pen, everyone’s knows it should’ve been a pen…..another example of VAR wanting to create headlines (possibly to override Utd’s shambolic performance on the night).

Problem is, I believe the referees are too inept to be conspiratorial.

Somewhat agree... But I do feel that they've taken a (not so) secret stance to not show each other up and, unless somebody has been knifed on the pitch, they're never going to overrule the decision on the pitch.

The ref must have amazing vision, because he made up his mind that it was a red card immediately. I was surprised at how fast he called it and pulled out the red card. VAR was used just to back him up and ensure there wasn't any glaring mistakes.

I thought the ref was pretty rude in telling him to leave the pitch too. Which is why I don't blame VVD it was an Fing joke. It may have been a red card, when you slow it down and go through the steps, but I def think the ref was looking to make a big decisive call for Newcastle, after failing to give TAA the red earlier.
