Is anyone on here a watch nerd/ aficionado?
I have a milestone birthday approaching and am planning to splash out on a nice watch for myself. I have never really been that interested in watches so am starting to research a bit - although I ultimately just want one I like rather than trying to predict ability to hold value etc.
I'm not a huge fan of TAGs as I feel they are everywhere - seems to be the go-to choice for people's first 'luxury' watch.
I don't find myself at all drawn to the Rolex brand, so writing that off. I think its too cliche.. but just an opinion.
I am finding myself drawn to IWC - and i particularly like those with a leather strap, rather than a metal strap. There seem to be some good overseas sellers that are about 40% cheaper than UK list price also..
I also don't really like watches by brands that aren't watch makers e.g. Boss, Armani etc. They just come across as pissing money up the wall on a brand rather than the manufacturer.. if that makes sense.
Anyway - interested to hear thoughts on what people have or admire or have on their 'list' as a future purchase.
